Hello,
Whats it like having a car at MSU when you live off campus. Are there places to park when u go to class or not really? I'm transferring in Spring semester and any advice would be great.

You can park for free on campus after six and on weekends but that is about it.

You can buy parking passes but they cost a bit (commuter lot is like $90 and you still need to ride the bus). You can buy parking passes to some places on Grand River (Chopstix sells them I think). Parking is pretty bad on campus. I live close enough to campus that parking doesn’t matter.

The bus is generally a good option. For the most part they are close to being on time and they are clean. They get a little crowded in bad weather and sometimes the bike rack is filled up but those are the only major problems I’ve seen.

I live off campus but I’ve had a car every year. It’s nice because I have 3 off campus jobs and therefore its necessary. It’s also nice to not have to take the bus to Meijer and such.

Parking on campus SUCKS. It’s easier to just take the bus if it’s for classes and such. After 6 events would be better. Anything before five and don’t bother with parking.
