Taking classes as a non-degree student at CUNY schools?

I graduated high school and was denied from all CUNY schools I applied to. I took community college classes this passed year and did fairly well. I applied to Queens, Brooklyn, Baruch, and Hunter as a transfer… and was denied from all of them. I’m from Pennsylvania, but I live really close to NYC. CUNY schools are really the only schools I’m interested in. I have to pay for college on my own. CUNY has good yet cheap academics and it’s in the best city in the whole world. It’s the only school I applied to. If I take classes at Hunter college as a non-degree student, what are my chances of being accepted as a film studies student? What’s it like taking the non-degree classes?? Thanks

None. taking courses as a non-degree student will do nothing for your cause.

Your best bet would be get an associates degree at a CUNY community college and get an automatic transfer to a 4-year CUNY. or take at least 24 credits at CUNY community college with at least a B average and then apply to transfer to Hunter.

I think OP has an associate’s degree from PA. I don’t think he can afford an OOS college.

Tyler, can you pay the rent at your dad’s or step dad’s and still afford to take a class or two at a time somewhere? If not, you may have to get a job somewhere and save for classes.
