Hey all,

I'm new here, but I figured this was the best medium to get feedback. So last year I graduated high school preparing to enter SUNY Albany. The decision was made after I was offered a fabulous financial aid package from the school. I left after one semester because I realized Albany was really not the best place for me. I also left with a GPA of 1.6. I originally wanted to be a theater major, but that degree was cut. Also, I treated my classes like high school and didn't exactly pull my weight to the best of my ability. Long story short, I dropped out and took a gap year. I spent the year working and figuring out my goals. I intend to return to school as an English major with a focus on writing. I am trying to get back to school for next semester (Spring 2013), but I'm worried my GPA is going to hold me back from getting into my schools of choice. I am currently applying to CUNY Hunter, Brooklyn College, and CCNY. I wanted an opinion on what my chances look like for see schools and if reapplying is simply a waste with such low standing on paper. In high school I was an above average student and my recommendations were stellar. I was really hoping that would really help my case as a transfer with only one semester under my belt. If anyone could provide me with some guidance it would be much appreciated!
