Hello, I’m a junior in high school considering taking CSE 143 in the summer at UW. I’m homeschooled and doing running start, and got credit for CSE 142 by taking an AP exam for CS last year.
I have a lot of programming experience (but very little in Java) so I think I will do well in the class. I think that taking the class will improve my chances of getting Direct admit when I apply for UW in the fall. Do you think this is true? Any other advice? Thanks.
Aren’t you already in Running Start? Why not just go to your cc?
If I take it at UW, then it won’t count towards the transfer credit limit, so when I start at UW I will start with 95 credits instead of 90. Also, I think it looks better, because it’s probably harder.
It will only look better if you can get a decent grade. Given your prior programming experience, you probably can, just mind your Ps and Qs (pay close attention to style!)
I don’t think it will look better for admissions vs taking at your CC, but it won’t hurt your case.
You definitely need to do well either way, and summer classes have a faster pace to do the same course in fewer weeks. If you’re not sure you can keep up, just take it at CC in the fall.
