Hi,
I'm going to be a freshman at UW this fall and I hope to major in computer science.
I read that you can skip CSE 142 and start with 143 if you have a solid background in programming.
I took AP Comp Sci in High School and I've taken a couple C prog courses at the local community college over summer.
Is it advisable to skip 142 or not?
Thanks!

idk about computer science but most majors dont like to see people skipping classes at the college, even if it’s exempt by AP. I know thats how it is for the college of arts & sciences. They highly reccomend you take the classs AT the university.

Take a look at the CSE 142 website for previous quarters. If you feel like you are comfortable with the material, skip it. If not, take the course.
