Taking Geometry as a Sophomore... What can I do to ''step up'' in my math classes?

I was an immigrant to the US in my freshman year, I didn’t have Algebra I in 8th grade (because I wasn’t here) so now I’m at Geometry Honors. I know I can do a lot more, I’m in advanced classes in all my other classes, but not in math. What can I do to ‘‘get back on track’’? I don’t want to be taking Algebra II in my Junior year, what should I do? Should I take Algebra II online, and if I do, what class should I take after Algebra II? Thanks.

In my school, we finish classes in one term. That means a student can take two “concurrent” classes, even if one is a prerequisite for the other. I don’t know how your school does it, but it might be an option.

Have you talked with your counselor yet? Maybe he/she can set something up for you. My school has been slicing funding like bread but I still had the opportunity to enroll at a nearby college.

Worst case, you’ll do well at a normal grade-level class, with an ACT or SAT math score that shows your untested ability.

I hope nobody disagrees with me :(.

@neoconfusedguy I can take Algebra II online, I live in Florida and there’s something called Florida Virtual School (I don’t know if there’s something similar in other states), I just wanted to know if it was a good idea.

I went the regular math curriculum. Finishing with pre calc honors. I mean colleges have calc 1 classes so they know everyone is not going to be on track for calc 2-3 right away. I mean of course doing Calc would of course help you and give you more knowledge.

If you can take alg 2 online and finish at Calc then I’d say go for it.

I took Algebra 2 online 8th grade while taking Geometry in school. Its a good option if you’re good at math and comfortable with teaching yourself. So, if you want, take Algebra 2 starting now or starting in the summer, Pre-Calc Junior year, then Calc senior year. I found that Pre-calc is basically a review of Algebra 2 so you should be fine.
