I'm a guy, btw. I don't know my how my parents would react, though I did mention nonchalantly to my mother yersterday that I now have a boyfriend. It was hard to tell how she reacted (she quickly changed the subject, but I don't think this necessarily means that she didn't approve of it). What would you do if you were in my situation? Just bring him home and see how it goes? I could also postpone this meeting for another time...

You soooooo do not want my opinion on this

It's common courtesy to ask your parents' permission to bring someone home.

NO PDA. If your parents are uncomfortable with your orientation, it will make them MORE uncomfortable if you are in their face about it. Be respectful of them.. (I actually was going to write the same thing when I was assuming it was a heterosexual relationship, so don't think I'm being a homophobe. Parents in general can be a little uncomfortable with their childrens sexuality.)

But yea, if you ARE going to do it, definitely ask them, since it is their home. Not everyone is okay with homosexuality and if they do not want to be a part of it i think that you should respect that and keep that part of your life on the DL.

Make out with him at the dinner table, opposite grandma.

Serious answer: Don't just bring him home. Have, at the very least, a brief chat with your folks to see where they stand on it. It is their house, after all.

its kinda of early..isn't it?
but i agree w/ no pda.
you should talk to your parents about it first.

don't listen to sheed, he's a homophobic maniac. i hate his mindset. blah.

are your parents outside the range of acceptably liberal for this type of thing?

personally, i say why create drama. keep your new life with your boyfriend separate from your parents.

at least she didn't scream and cry

mj.................boooooo

excellent comeback, you homophobic freak of nature. i could come up with that response while drunk.. on beer that makes you bigoted. :D

I'm not going to deny it..i'm just booing you

you don't like my mindset....ehhhh, i guess not a lot of people do...but whatever. everyone's entitle to their own opine

wow, interesting. tell me about your world views, sheed.

My world views? I hate answering broad questions..just ask me a specific question, and ill answer it....

other

okay. what do you think of:
blacks
jews
eastern europeans
quakers
asians
mixed couples
sin
abortion
religion
imposing your beliefs on others
death
love
education
food

....

are you homophobic too?
or maybe i'm just repulsive.
or maybe i'm just open-minded and not all know-it-allish :D

okay,it'll just be really short for each one...

blacks - Normal people, i have tons of black friends..they're just regular to me..
jews - Don't like passive Israelis who hate paelestinians, three really good friends are jews, i dont mind them...
eastern europeans- dont know anything about them
quakers- or them
asians - Asians are awesome. Never met an asian i didn't like (unless they were middle eastern)
mixed couples - If you're not straight, i dont like you.
sin - what do you mean. I beleive there is such thing as sin in the world,
abortion - Completely against it.
religion - 100% Muslim
imposing your beliefs on others - I tell people what I beleive in..i try not to impose
death - everyone's gonna die..scares me..but it is what it is
love - I beleive it exists, hope i meet the love of my life sometime...
education - probably one of the most important issues facing us today. I think the majority of "education" today sucks...we're just being manufactured to fill in jobs, instead of just learning for the sake of living a good life.
food - Love food probably more than a lot of things..PIE S AWESOME
africa - I'm from Libya. Africa for life!

whatd oyout hink?

What school do you attend, Sheed?

blacks - i judge individuals, and even then i only judge based on compatibility
jews - i judge individuals, and even then i only judge based on compatibility
eastern europeans- i judge individuals, and even then i only judge based on compatibility
quakers- i judge individuals, and even then i only judge based on compatibility
asians - i judge individuals, and even then i only judge based on compatibility
mixed couples - people should do whatever they think is good
sin - ambiguous
abortion - again, people should do whatever they think is good
religion - agnostic about everything
imposing your beliefs on others - i don't really have any beliefs to impose... the only thing i do not tolerate is intolerance
death - meh, yeah i'm scared because of instinct. but i realize how awesomely insignificant i am :D
love - different for every single person.
education - i probably shouldn't go into it. i hate the lack of freedom from the school system
food - Love food probably more than a lot of things..PIE S AWESOME /quote. well put.
africa - you can't judge an entire continent...

why are you guys hijacking the thread?
