Taking Online Classes to raise GPA?

I'm a Junior right now and I've been thinking about taking another online class to boost my GPA. My GPA isn't very high (3.25 UW/3.87W) and it will probably be even lower because I pretty much ruined my 1st semester of Junior Year. I'll need to take an online course to boost my GPA a bit. I was thinking about taking Latin I on FLVS (I've always liked languages and I think it wouldn't be as time-consuming) but I'm afraid that Latin wouldn't be calculated in my overall GPA when it comes time to apply to colleges(its only a regular elective online course). I would take another AP course but I'm already taking AP Stat online and putting anymore APs on my list would only burn me out. Would Latin most likely be incorporated in my GPA.

P.S: I plan on taking Latin 1 second semester, Latin 2 during the summer, and Latin 3 (Honors) senior year.

From my experience with online classes, everything (up to Latin 2), should count in your GPA at application time. Everything I took online over the summer was calculated into my GPA, but I specifically check with my counselor before you decide.

Latin is a language, so most colleges will calculate it into your GPA, since they use Foreign Language to determine it.

I took Latin I through FLVS too, and I loved it, btw. Not hard at all, and my professor was amazing. So goodluck, and I reccommend taking it. :P

^ Professor? lettuce be reality, FLVS teachers are nothing more than glorified assignment graders. They’re grade factories. All of the classes that I’ve taken have had 150+ students and the teachers have never actually…taught me anything.

And yes, I’ve heard good things about the Latin course as well. Although, if you want BS classes to raise your GPA, I recommend Econ H and US History H. I was able to complete econ in 2 weeks and I did a semester of USH H in a 3 day weekend. Both classes are an absolute joke.

^Allow me to clarify, I meant amazing as in ‘totally awesome personality and really friendly’, not as in ‘omg he taught me sooooo much’.

^ Oh. Haven’t met any of those either lol. I get the ones who tell me about their son’s tennis tournament and spend 15 minutes every call trying to get me to open up to them about myself.

^LOL, ah that sucks. My PE teacher is like that, but I got really lucky with Latin.
Guess it just depends on the luck of the draw, although most of the teachers my friends have had are more like yours.

Just another question:

Does anyone know how much my GPA could raise by taking maybe 3 Online Courses (before app. time). Assuming that I do well the rest of the year?

Depends on if they’re honors or not, how your school calculates GPA, how many credits you have, etc.
