taking SAT I and SAT II timing

Is that overwhelming, to take SAT II's in May and then SAT I in June?
What is best? To take first the SAT I or the II's

Thanks!

Our children have done best on the SATIIs when taking them immediately after completing the applicable coursework. That meant taking some tests at the end of sophomore year and some at the end of junior year. Their best SAT results seem to have come at the end of junior year. That is also a time of year when their ECs were much less hectic and they could concentrate just on APs and the standardized tests. So, just based on their experience, I think it’s a good idea to take both the May and June tests. Whether within that schedule you elect to take SATI or SATIIs first is entirely a personal preference.

Hi am9799, my son is doing/did just that. The informative people on CC gave me great advice about my son re-taking his SAT, and he is doing so on June 1st. He just took the Math2 and US History subject tests on May 4th. Before the subject tests, he focused solely on prepping for the Math 2, because when he took US History practice tests, he kept scoring 800. On Math 2, he kept scoring around between 680 and 720. For the SAT, he initially scored 1970, respectively, which we thought was ok. But the peeps on CC encouraged me to encourage him to re-take. His lowest score on the original SAT was the math section, 620, so he is working solely now on practice tests for the math section. He is not overwhelmed and seems to be focused. Although he has 3 AP exams during the interim, he seems to be just fine. I thought it was going to be too much for him and had planned him to re-take the SAT in October, but the decision was finally made to just “get it over with now” so he can enjoy the summer and focus on his other obligations. Anyway, the point is that he is not overwhelmed, although I know it can be for others.

Thanks!

Eventually will have to take the math II and the SAT I in the spring of junior year.
