Hey guys,

I'm a incoming sophomore transfer, and I plan to apply to dental school after undergrad so having a high GPA is a high priority of mine. I've heard that the core science classes at USC are rather challenging, so I was wondering if I should take some of these classes (ie. OChem, Physics) at a local community college over the summer, where it would be much easier to get A's in these courses. Is this an advisable route, or would it look bad on my transcript?

Adcoms will notice that you decided to do this as the easy way out-- you should be taking your classes at your home institution. You will have to decide if this is better or worse than getting lower grades at USC. Your best bet would be to use all the resources available at USC to do well in your science classes-- go to SI sessions, go to office hours, form a study group, get a tutor, etc… Learn how to study for these difficult classes and do well.

If you cannot handle the work at USC, how will you be prepared for dental school? The level of competition and work only increases. Challenge yourself now and see if you are truly up for this career.

Ditto. Do your core work at USC.
