taking the sat 4 times

Is taking the SAT 4 times considered to be too much, Could it penalize me?

I think 4 is too much, but honestly it depends on your trend over those four times.

Dec 2014( didnt study) : 1870 m:690 :560 w:620
Oct 2015: 2050 m:690 cr:680 w:680
Nov: 2150 : m:760 cr700 w690

Planning to take in January to boost the lagging scores to 2250

You will now be compared to those who only took the test once due to a lack of funds though.
Not to mention you’re doing this for a sub-20% chance of entrance. Those are bad odds. Focus on your application.

Not worth it unless you’re going for 2300+. Remember scores are only part of your application. You’ve shown an upward trend and that’s good enough. The difference between a 2150 and a 2250 is about 5-7 questions on the test. Don’t look like a score obsessed maniac.

It could send a bad message - you are too anal, too nit picking, too obsessed, have poor judgment, have poor time management skills. Note I said could. I really do not know but I wonder if that that kind of perseverance could be considered a negative.

Why not spend that time getting your grades up, doing some more community service, or doing something a bit more productive…
