I haven't taken any AP science classes... which SAT Subject Tests would you recommend I take? (I'll definitely be taking Math II, maybe Math I too)... Also, I don't mind self-studying, if need be.

^^^ Forgot to add, I took honors, algebra-based Physics this year...
Is the Physics subject test too hard without having taken AP Physics??

I didn't take AP Physics. Took the SAT II 8 months after I finished the Physics course and scored a 770. A 800 is possible if I studied harder though.

The easiest SAT science is probably Chemistry.

Thanks for the quick response. What book did you use to study?

PR Physics.

I would recommend chem... I haven't taken it, but it's probably the most common science taken without an AP class. I know quite a few people who took it after just chem honors.

I'm doing what oasis did, and I'm using the same book.

i didn't do AP, and i took the bio SAT II.
went just fine.

Well, taking a regular Physics class did not prepare me for the SAT II. I tried to cram in a week, but it didn't work. I took AP's in math and history, and got 800's on both of them, but i doubt Physics will be higher than 720. Maybe if you prep alot, you will be ok, but I wasn't.

I took a regular chem class and got a 730. I studied on my own for a month.

I took regular Physics and crammed for the SAT2 in like 10 days and took the test in June.. it wasn't too bad although it could've been better if I studied more. Didn't get my score yet but I think I got around 750

Is it possible to get a 700+ without taking a physics course (I did take physicis, but the teacher sucked so much it's just like not taking physics at all) by just reviewing from PR or some other prep book?

what's the best book to use to study for Chemistry?

Study from Princeton Review, but take as many practice tests as you can from any book you can find.

really princeton review? i used their book to study for math level I. but the book was soooo bad, that i decided to not even take the test because i didn't feel it prepared me properly... I've had much better success with the REA books...

The PR is worse for Math Level 1 (I used it for level 1), but much better for Chem. Actually, if you feel like you didn't learn enough in your Chem class, get Kaplan or Barrons - they cover everything in more depth. But PR is really clear and concise, stressing the important things.

^ How many practice tests do the Kaplan/Barron's/PR books have for chem?

I think PR and Kaplan both had 3. Not sure of barrons. Get your hands on as many practice tests as possible - take some from the library maybe.

Cool, thanks :)

Maybe Barron's has more, because their math IIC book had 9... haha. You can guess what I spent my last couple months doing... :p

my school doesnt offer APs... so yea i took all mine with no AP prep
