Hi. I’m a biochem major and I’m set to take quantitative analysis with a 6 hour lab (split between 2 days), biochem 1 (lecture only) and microbiology w/ a 3 hour lab.
Apparently the professor for micro is really tough? But I’m more concerned with having 9 hours of labs a week. I wanted to know what your opinions are? I want to get ahead to finish my degree but I’m not sure if it’ll be worth it failing a class for being bold and taking far more than I can chew. I would also be working 10-20 hours a week at my job… ive done the gen eds together like this i.e gen chem 2, phys 2, and calc 1 (both with labs) and didn’t think it was too EXCRUCIATINGLY hard but again, they were gen eds… please help. I’m stressed the hell out because of people around me warning me not to take them and maybe just do what I’m sure I can do… but sooner or later I’m going to have to take more upper division courses together like this… thanks in advanced
Have you talked to your advisor? A friend of mine who is a double major in chemistry and physics got stuck with three labs a week that were each 4 hours, granted he didn’t have a choice. I would assume your advisor could tell you if this is a bad situation. Do you have to take both of these classes in the same semester? Have you talked to anyone who has taken either one of the classes? Personally, I think the quantitative analysis class is going to be the issue. Microbiology isn’t that bad if you put the time into it.
