Taking written test (driving) tomorrow

I'm taking the driving written test tomorrow in order to obtain my permit... How hard is it? What do I need to know? (generally)

Oh and what do you do after you get permit to get license...

Good luck!

It varies from state to state but here in CT, its a 10 question test if I remember correctly and its not bad.. Just read the manual or book that they provide you and you should be all set. My test had questions which were pretty wordy though so that was irritating but otherwise it was pretty easy!

I'm taking my written test for my license on Tuesday... Good luck to both of us :)

If you have some common sense, you should be able to pass it easily.

The questions are like:
When you approach a red light, what do you do?
A. Keep driving
B. Slow down and proceed slowly
C. Stop, and then continue.
D. Come to a complete stop and wait until the light turns green.
E. Honk twice and speed up.

There are a bunch of online practice tests that are basically the same as the real thing. Take a couple of those and you'll be fine

Ditto what wraider2006 said.

If the DMV people are feeling tricksy, you might have to identify a stop sign or something.

Check these sample tests out:

http://www.ct.gov/dmv/cwp/view.asp?a=805&Q=244784&dmvNavDLTEST=|28980|

know the sign shapes and colors. like if it has a picture of a red octagon, know that that is a stop sign.

The New York test is common sense, alcohol laws, and road signs. I didn't read the manual, and I know nothing about driving.

Of course, more than a year later, I have yet to earn my actual license...

Haha. California's test seems to be significantly harder than other states'. :P

It's all common sense.

10 questions.. that's it in CT? nj we have 50 questions...some are really specific, but my drivers ed teacher basically read us the test the day before we took it...i got a 96 or 98.i think 1 or 2 wrong. it was a piece of cake

Hey...I'm in New Jersey too...

It's not that bad...I would've passed the test before I even took a class for it, which was mildly annoying. I think the test I took was 30 questions, since it was some special deal after a class or something.

Just hope your IQ doesn't drop 50+ points before the test and you'll be fine.
