I'm curious as to how i'll do on this exam. On my practice MC answering all questions I've maintained a ratio of 11 right : 1 wrong fairly consistently, giving me a final ratio of 4 missed, answering all questions. 45/50 points for MC.

I know that that's 5 Material. My wildcard is the FR section. I'm a national circuit debater and I think I can get a high-scoring synthesis or argument essay. However, analysis is a totally new beast to me. I've never done anything remotely like it and don't even feel I have an understanding of what's going on with these essays.

wow I wish I was in your predicament. I cannot answer Multiple-choice at all, i'm prolly like 1:3 or 1:4 when it comes to getting em right to wrong. For analysis essay, I can't really say much. What you prolly wanna do is go to APcentral on collegeboard and take a look at sample essays. Other than that, writing can't really be taught, you can only let it sink in by reading essays.

wow...i agree with maelstrom99 the MC is is difficult for me...it's just that everyone has their own interpretation of passages AND the ollegeboard answers are sooo PICKY..geezz...i really wish I didn't have to take the exam..but it's a requirement at my school :( i hope i do well....

yeah i'm pretty worried about the test as well... i usually get 40 right out of the multiple choice which i guess is decent, but that puts a lot of pressure on my essays. I need a minimum of 7 7 8 for a 5

Seeing old FR questions is definitely a sure way to go (especially for lang). I'm also better at argument/synthesis type essays, but stink at analysis. Just try practicing old analysis questions and reviewing some of your practice essays with your teacher and other students. Getting this kind of feedback has helped me immensely.

its gonna be a tough exam in my opinion. I can do very well on Sat type Comprehension; however, the Ap test stuff is ridiculous and the passages are so monotonus, and diction is very profound, + syntax doesn't make sense. I didn't have a real Ap teacher until end of April. My old teacher just gave us essays to write about Indians, and vocabulary tests. Near April is the first time i learned about different styles of writing and rhetoric! =( I've been doing a lot of PR multiple choice and thats how I am trying to improve. Make sure you know your rhetoric!

Yeah; I'm a national circuit debater too, so Argumentative will be no problem for me. Synthesis won't be that much tougher. I'm working on analysis right now.

I'm trying to think of broadly applicable examples/topics to bring into my free response essay. But the only thing I really know inside-out is Watergate...so that sucks.

I'm not that worried because my SAT Writing is enough to place me out of the english class this AP Exam represents. However, I still want that 5 to send to Oxford for admissions.

Hey guys, so the Language test is tomorrow, and I haven't done anything to prepare. Whenever I try to read the MC passages, I completely zone-out, and I have no clue how my essays will be. I also want to go into the journalism field in college. How screwed am I?

we are pretty much in the same predicament here jbruner17. I'll be setting up some sort of template for my essays later today for me to remember for later...

I wonder if a 740 writing would place you out of the class this represents at your regular run of the mill college.

I just hope I can survive reading the passages... I can only force myself to read semi-dilligently for like the first paragraph or two. After that I'm pretty much lost.

all you gotta do is answer the question by using references to lines where certain rhetorical/literary devices are used, and explain the purpose of them and how they help the author let you know how to answer the question given.
