these i must decide between

Texasboy:

I can only tell you the advice that I would give my son in this situation. He was fortunate enough to get in. If it were a choice between Blinn Team and TAMUG that would be a hard choice. I know that my son would have probably taken the Blinn Team option. That being said, just Blinn CS vs. TAMUG. I would not hesitate to advise TAMUG. You would already be an Aggie. After one year you can change your major and go to CS. We attended Sea Aggie preview and I was impressed. I know that it is not the CS atmosphere at TAMUG but it is a great place to start. TAMUG is probably the surest way to get into TAMU, even over Blinn Team. I wish you luck in your decision. I have watched your posts with great interest. I wish you the best.

I am in the same situation. I think is it best to try and go to TAMUG and after one year go to TAMU. If only I had clicked yes for them to submit my stuff to TAMUG it would have been alot nicer, but becuase I had waited so long I have to redo everything now.
TAMUG would be the better choice in my opinion.

We toured TAMUG last summer. The campus is small which means you don’t have to walk far to get to class. Classes are small in size. TAMUG students are Aggies and can attend sporting activities just as like any TAMU student. They have a rowing team and a sailing team. How cool is that? There are many students that want to move to the CS campus too. So, you are surrounded by students with similar goals. After 27 hours and a 2.5 GPA, you can submit a change of curriculum and move to the CS campus guaranteed depending on the major. By attending Blinn and then applying for a transfer, you have to compete. You can be in the CS area. Many students go to Blinn then transfer. I’m told they have the highest number of students transferring to TAMU. It really depends on your goals and what are you willing to do to achieve those goals. Good luck! Either option is a good option for you.

texasboy, I agree with the other posters about TAMUG.

My daughter just completed her freshman year at TAMUG and will now be attending TAMU in the fall. As TXAggie has said, there are alot of other students at TAMUG that will do a change of curriculm to attend TAMU after the completion of 27 hours and satisfying their majors’ GPR requirement. By attending TAMUG, you are considered an “Aggie” and can use all the facilities at TAMU as well as buy a sports pass and attend all the games. TAMUG has the same traditions as TAMU. They have Yell Practice prior to the football games too.

If you feel conflicted, and you live close enough to take a trip to both schools this might help you make your decision. You might want to wait until summer school has started so you can talk to the students as well as advisors about questions you have about the schools. After a visit to TAMUG over a year ago, we knew it was the right decision.

Best Of Luck with your decision!

Well my parents are guiding me toward Galveston, and today we sent in the housing application. The main reason is that I can go to Mays after one year and a 3.0, thanks for the responses!

Funny thing is if I had gone to TAMUG they would have had the exact undergraduate major I would have wanted to pursue, and unfortunately CS campus does not offer it.

But to answer the question at hand (sounds like you already did), I would attend TAMUG because it should give you a better idea about the rigor and life of a tier 1 university college student.
