Tasp 2007

what if we use something that we did write for school but it's not very school-ish? i did an analysis on cummings' "anyone lived in a pretty how town" and i was planning on editing that a little and using it.

I'll strongly discourage it but it's your app so do whatever.

is a 3.35 uw GPA but top 10% acceptable?

should someone with these stats bother applying?

seriously, stats don't matter. just spend time on your essays; they account for the vast majority (95% maybe?) of the decision.

can one of the previous taspers pm me with a lit analysis?

can past tasp'ers post their gpa please

3.85 UW... but seriously, it doesn't matter.

Grades do not necessarily measure insight or genuine intellectual inquiry.

chaotic, ScrewedHopeful is the same guy who posted that T-TASP thing, if you remember...

Hmm, I took a look at the programs offered...I think I'll apply! :D Sounds cool. Though I'm probably not going to get in, bleh.

cornell I anyone?
any stats on college acceptance for taspers?

"can one of the previous taspers pm me with a lit analysis?"

If this happens, can I be included? Thanks.

and me^ .

If you actually want to get into the program asking someone else for lit analysis or w/e shows you dont care genuwinely enough about the program. And that is gonna come across through in your writing of essays. and you could have a 4.77 GPA and you still wont even be given the light of day by TASP because they will be able to tell. While your asking someone else for Lit Analysis they will be analyzing your papers and they will see you dont truly care. All they want is for you to write from your heart about something you care about, nothing more then that.

How does looking at a lit analysis follow that you "don't care"? What if you never wrote a literary analysis before? :) Learning how to write and what to write is two different things. (In that case, you would call ALL successful writers fake because almost every successful writer has imitated their favorite writers and books, that's the only way you improve your writing, by reading good writing.) :)

Good luck everyone, time to start applications!

giantredlobster - i just want to see an example of what was successful in the past.

Yes, I remember. I have a theory about ScrewedHopeful.. he probably messed up in terms of GPA during freshman and sophomore year and wants to see if he can make up for it. This explanation would account for the multiple discrepancies; he's probably just testing the waters to see what kinds of activities he would hypothetically need to get into a good college.

Regarding the lit analysis: Mine wasn't exactly personal, but it did manifest my values and outlook on life.

I agree with you chaotic. That would also explain the discrepancy between the posts where he "has" perfect scores on all standardized tests possible and fact that he claims he got straights As junior year despite a rather low GPA or why he stops posting as soon as someone questions these discrepancies.

Sorry for my rant earlier, now I understand what you were asking. I was looking from a very different perspective, more of the oh I NEED a lit analysis can i have one, not from the may i LOOK at a lit analysis to get a good example. So I APOLOGIZE for all of that (especially to you dandelion27.) I definetly get what your saying now. Good Luck! so did you pick a piece to analyze...

can a first semester junior year report card or a first quarter report suffice instead of a full transcript?
