FROU FROU! THE DECEMBERISTS! WHOO. haha. Shout out to Guster, too.

Certainly not a stretch to write about a song. Lyrics = poetry that you sing.

I never titled my essays, but I guess it can't hurt.

Yes, race plays a part. I mean, look at previous TASPs. But still, it's not like they're going to let underqualified people in just because they're gasp a minority.

OMG ROAMOARSE! My transcript lady is the same way! I hate my school. But I digress.

Good luck guys, but I might not be able to keep helping you for a few days. I've been putting off my own stuff and... y'know, that's not good when deadlines are about...oh, smacking me in the face. So, GOOD LUCK TO ALL, and I'll try to get back in the game as soon as I can. <3

Waittttt. So, if you're applying by mail, do you need the transcript/ letter of rec postmarked by the 15th? Or just send it in with the whole package that gets postmarked by the 22nd??

"that's only if you're applying online, a-san. i'm pretty sure if you're applying on paper you should send it everything at once (hence the licking the flap thing)."

I think I'd be paranoid about it getting sent or not... haha. Plus, I think my essays will look awesomer printed out and mailed, because they'll be all formatted and stuff, not just pasted grossly into a textbox. Call me old-fashioned, but....

hahahaha, i agree with you completely, thecomisar. i like seeing it nicely printed out, in my hands. and i like playing around with fonts/sizes. =)

I don't understand the aversion to online apps. It's instantaneous, you get an email confirmation and extra time. The notion that they're less secure doesn't make sense- do you really trust the mail?

I used the online app and got in. There is no correlation between method and result in this case.

The four extra days is a blessing :). And it just seems more convenient. No formatting or anything and it tells you if you're missing anything from the application.

And that is why I am applying online.

And I think Billy's right about the different deadlines for the two apps.

For the online application, I wonder if the TASP people check to make sure each response is at most 2 pages? or will they do a general word count?

No, I don't think so. I put in my 3 or 4 page essay and it fit quite snugly, surprisingly. Of course, some eyebrows may be raised if the word count is too high.

I'm pretty sure with the length limit, it's just to ensure the readers have time to give each essay a fair read. There will be TONS of essays to look through (6 from each applicant!) and I'm pretty sure they'll appreciate a short and sweet essay that gets to the point.

But I'm fairly sure that they'll read your whole essay, no matter. It might count against you, however, if it becomes draggy and blahhhlaksndsj...

What exactly is so amazing about those extra four days?? Has anyone looked at the calendar? January 22 is a Monday, and January 26 is a Friday. Am I totally off the wall in making the assumption that most of us attend HIGH SCHOOL during the week? It doesn't even give an extra weekend.

Well basically I'd be spending the four extra days getting some last minute feedback from teachers and peers. Or at least that's what I see myself doing. I'd have enough time to make edits, but obviously I wouldn't have time to say, write another essay.
