That's an interesting outlook... kind of a cop-out. Like, I messed up my whole life and I'm a failure........... but it's not MY fault! It's fate!

Not trying to be offensive or anything :)

That's an interesting outlook... kind of a cop-out. Like, I messed up my whole life and I'm a failure........... but it's not MY fault! It's fate!

Not trying to be offensive or anything :)

Haha exactly!

Then you don't have to take responsibility for anything.

"I was meant to fail this test...it's fate telling me to study harder!"

:)

I think I'm really lighthearded/informal BECAUSE i believe in fate. I'm too happy. GRR. :(

Okay, Tako, I like you. Add me on AIM or something; you sound interesting. XD
I abuse the smileys, too. I can't help it! I do them to mirror my ACTUAL face... I'm a very expressive person. ^_^

Purple sharpies last a long time, man. ANYTHING purple that is inky lasts a lot. Seriously.

Oh god, cdon, saying codon was almost condom.
Or maybe that's just me.

Getting the app in the mail means you were in the top percentiles for your state (SAT-score wise).

Kids. My advice for your senior year: START STUFF EARLY!
Look for scholarships. Make CALENDARS WITH DEADLINES. That's really important. Look throughout the year; new ones pop up all the time.
Fastweb and collegeboard.com are your friends. So is Google.com
Don't leave stuff for the last minute.
Ask for recs on time.
If you can, apply early to a university (if it's non-binding and you'd like to go).
It's great to have an acceptance in your pocket. If you don't get it, don't worry.

What else...get your parents to fill out the FAFSA as early as possible in January.
Check the requirements for admission into your major/college at whatever university or college you want to apply to. (You don't want to be filling out the app and then, CRUD!, realize you have to take the TOEFL or an SAT II.)

Okay. I should go to bed. It's almost three in the freaking morning and I've been scholarshipping. Yes, it's a verb now.

School. Sigh. Suckage. And detention tomorrow. Huzzah!!!

And yes, people who actually use that excuse = it's a copout.

haha. It is your ultimate despise. :-/ sucks for you Jenny :-P

I don't think its a cop-out; I'm just exploiting the idiosyncrasies of her argument and beliefs. <--call me a bia'

P.S. - ROLLING ADMISSIONS. The earlier you apply, the better. Be on the lookout for that.

What else.

Freaking enjoy your junior year a lot, because senior year will be crazy. :P

Aida you been MIA. Scholarships suck, why couldnt you be the really rich girl whos family lives in PR to be on a small tropical island and to be closer to the private island in the lesser antillies. Not someone who lives there just to be in G-town (guyarnabo..?/?/?). Hmm... Scholarships have taken you away from this board. Grrr >:-(

Haha i like how i dissed on the purle sharpies but for half my life purple was my favorite color. I had a purple room in K-3grade. like deep deep purple

"Okay, Tako, I like you. Add me on AIM or something; you sound interesting. XD"

YES I am liked :) Haha that is really sad.

Mom: Jenny, you have no friends.
Me: What are you talking about, mom! There's musechick2007, thecomisar, giantredlobster...etc. See, I do have friends!

Hehe. Tomorrow's Twin Day and I'm excited! Me and my friend are going to switch clothes, hair styles, backpacks, earrings, bracelets, watches, etc. and be each other! And in our lit class (which we are together in) we're going to switch annotations and questions and seats and pretend we're actually the other person. I'm so excited :D

Yes, me = very very easily entertained.

if you believe in fate, mustn't you also believe in an afterlife? how else could you justify to yourself an intolerable life of suffering like some endure?

haha twin day at monta vista. (enters a racist comment on how every body there looks the same other than Jenny and her friend)

We did twin day and thats what every one did, they were like; look we're twins. rolls eyes

Haha okay so basically every one is reprimanding you Jenny. I'm pretty sure your belief in fate isn't that far extending, I was more just playing with her (refer to page 68 a.k.a our page) and you will see she is into superstitions. Notice most people are to some degree, like how many people knock on wood (there you go right there) it may seem rediculios in Jenny's case but it really isnt. We just blew it out of proportion. Jenny isn't a deranged psycho who smells purple sharpies because she thinks with purple sharpies in her life the barney killer is going to stay away from her. Give her a break.

Whatismouse, fate doesn't necessarily have to mean that your life will be miserable. One could believe in fate to the extent that things that happen (bad or good) have some grander purpose (which could also be bad or good). Not getting into TASP and instead spending the summer watching Grey's could lead to a chance meeting with your future spouse (also a TASP rejectee?) at the local Blockbuster's! Or, you could be miserable for the summer and inevitably realize that the time you spent moping could have been more effectively spent deworming Somalian orhans . . . a realization that forces you to stop moping when faced with setbacks and instead find alternative, equally fulfilling opportunities!

(Okay, it's too late at night for me to be on CC. Feel free to ignore me.)

lachanteuse... Is your middle name thesaurus and last name encyclopedia.

I don't understand half the stuff you say. Beyond my intellectual powerless

Orhans as in orphans???

LOL not all Asian people look alike, GOSH.

OKAY clearing some things up. I believe in fate. However, I am not all deep and philosophical and whatnot like all of you. :P I don't bother thinking about other people and why fate would have created poverty and all these criminals. In fact, I think of fate as only affecting me, and nobody else. I'm not one of those crazy people who imposes their beliefs on others; neither do I believe that fate affects you if you don't believe in it. Does that make sense? Fate is a personal thing, more of a reassurance of my failures. HAHA yeah so basically it's my excuse for doing stuff wrong. Okay, not quite, but essentially that's what I believe.

I'm not a missionary, out to spread the word of Fate, rather, it's simply a personal belief, a value. It doesn't take up that much importance in my life; I live life the way I want to. I'm not like, "my life is already preordained so I shouldn't even bother trying!" It's more of...something's out there guiding my life. I don't bother taking it to the extreme. "OMG FATE IS MAKING ME TYPE THIS MESSAGE RIGHT NOW. AND FATE IS MAKING YOU GUYS MAKE FUN OF ME. AND..." Yeah, no.

I don't know if I believe in an afterlife. I don't know if I want to, either. Living for eternity is somewhat scary. Yet so is dying, I suppose.

You spelled "ridiculous" wrong, btw. Yes. It's kind of confusing. I think it's just an excuse to be happy :)

YES lachateuse that is how I see it.

THANK YOU :)

haha oh the word police is out to get me now :-/

Tako...I almost cried.

Notice almost.

I agree that all Asians don't look alike, the same for African Americans i just think its ridiculous that people say that. grr

LOL it's okay.

Anyway, it's almost 12, so I'm off to sleep now. Good night until tomorrow evening, I expect :)

Awww I love all you guys. haha this thread is awesome. I feel like I've spent half the day on here. But nowwww is time to sleep.

And thanks for the tips on next year, Aida... I'll try to remember them :)

every time i see the words "Giant Red Lobster" the world is a better place, i mean its a giant red lobster!!!!! (no comment on the person; just the universal comment... youknow...)

For people who knows a lot more about TASP than I do, would it be alright if I sent in my rec and transcrip on the 18th or the 19th? Hopefully they would still accept it right? RIGHT???

Yeah, don't worry about it.

lol. Optimus prime. :-P

English final in 20 minutes :-( got to imbue my mind with pedantic teachings hectically before i succumb to the test
