Never mind, I found the answer to my own question. For anyone wondering, it won’t be until early March, if you are requested to be interviewed.
C’mon guys, let’s breathe life into this thread. I need people to stress with.
I couldn’t agree more @fiercefeminist . I’m counting down the hours, and I want it so bad it causes me physical pain sometimes. Anybody wanna talk about the Chapel Hill shooting and the serious lack of media coverage?
Sure. I go to a predominantly white, conservative school in Missouri and the things I’ve heard some of my classmates say are disgusting.
Regardless of whether it was racially motivated or not shooting someone over a parking space is crazy
On a side note, I’m getting more and more discouraged about my chances of getting into TASP. I thought my essays were great, but everybody’s essays were probably amazing. Don’t know I could of stood out.
@yasminalkho Is there actually very little coverage? I’ve been seeing a pretty decent amount?
Also though, @teenagecrime given the verbal abuse he unleashed on the victims prior to the shooting, I think there’s very little doubt that it was a racially-motivated hate crime.
I just said regardless. I never said whether I felt it was or was not racially motivated lol.
For the sake of debate (isnt that what tasp is about?)
That guy was crazy anyway though. He had already threatened neighbors before over the same thing, and I doubt his motive was to specifically kill Muslims. Our generation is great at being sensitive to the racial and ethnic issues of generations past, and this case is getting a extra coverage because we tend to react to that kind of thing. I dont think it was a hate crime, but reports are preliminary so let’s see.
Im worried about my chances too, i think we all are a little bit. I hope we all come out fine in the end!
@tasphopeful all i can say is i hope if we both make it we don’t end up in the same seminar bc that post was wild from start to finish (and not in a good way)
Did you guys hear about the Indian man paralyzed after police brutality?? That was in my small city of Madison!
Hello fellow TASP 2015 applicants, I’d like to join the discussion as we all sit here in apprehension and trepidation over the status of our applications! @fiercefeminist I could not agree with your feelings of discouragement more, but I’m sure your essay topics were wonderful! What did you write about? (In fact what did you all write about? I’m super curious haha)
My conflict essay was my best, probably. It was about my struggles with my ethnic identity.
That actually sounds very interesting (definitely deeper than what I wrote about for my conflict essay lol). What’s your ethnicity? @fiercefeminist
oops @fiercefeminist i think our conflict essays were on the same topic x) and if your username is any indication, our other essays might be too!
What order did you guys rank the four respective programs in?
Haha, I feel as if we would have amazing conversations if we both got in!
And I’m Chinese
@thegoldenage Jerusalem, then the technology one, then the enlightenment, then American history.
When will find out if we go to the interview stage?
