TASP 2017

Same here! I hope it all works out for us in the end! I requested access to the folder fyi. Thanks y’all!

Is there a way just to view others’ essays in the folder? Mine kind of has personal info in them.

@Selene1208 another Chinese here
Get an VPN maybe?

@bluejay123 Hey. I’m the one running the folder. Just for a sense of solidarity and communion, it would be nice for you to also share your essay. BUT. It is all really based on your comfort level. If after reading some essays, you find yourself comfortable enough to share to the community, I’d be thrilled to have you join. But if you aren’t, no worries. Just please have fun with us, leave comments, talk to people (random or constructive), and share ideas. I’ve found that a lot of these essays are really relatable and you can make new friends bonding over an experience or the stress of AP Chem (if you feel me).

As for your access, I really need to clock out and sleep for an audition tomorrow. So send me your email and I’ll grant to access when the bags under my eyes aren’t so deep (so tomorrow afternoon latest).

@Selene1208 @JohnRed Your best option may be VPN. I’ll try to see what other options there are but this is not my field of expertise.

@Selene1208 @JohnRed
I’m from the States, but from my limited knowledge of VPNs, I would recommend ExpressVPN or one of the ones you have to pay for. I recently heard that China has heightened the security of their firewall, so a bunch of previously working VPNs no longer work. If so, you may find yourself in a dilemma.

If possible, I would download Tor, but it will decrease your download and upload speeds enormously. I would highly recommend it if you could get your hands on it.

@steph_sky8278 Stick with character count as the true indicator

@peaceprincess I’m sure you’ll be fine. In all honesty, TASP stated that the ideas are what matters not the grammar, so a rushed essay with a great idea is good enough for them.

@ssn365 I also applied for TASP this year and would definitely be interested in sharing essays and giving feedback to others! :slight_smile:

Hey guys! Thanks for wanting to contribute to the folder. Just send me a message with your email. However, this week may get a bit busy for me so I may be a bit slow in granting access.

LOL. I’ve been getting so many messages and posting so much because of this shared folder that I was promoted on CC. I don’t usually go on CC that much. I feel like I should prepare an acceptance speech . . . actually, expect one soon.

Everyone’s essays are spectacular from what I’ve read! This is actually so fun; I’m going to pretend I didn’t apply so I can stop stressing LOL

@nerdloved Me too! Like it’s so long between now and march >_< anyone else feel?

@hope469 @nerdloved haha yes! I’m just trying to put it in the back of my mind for now!

How can you just push it to the back of your mind tho? This program is so life changing from what everyone has said that I can’t stop thinking about it. And all of the students that attend this program end up at prestigious universities so not being able to attend would break my heart.

@CIRCUITDEBATER emphasis on the trying! I’m on the same page as you; TASP sounds so amazing and I want to go more than anything else but the 5% acceptance rate is just so scary

@CIRCUITDEBATER @perksof1975 Stay hopeful, but don’t put all your eggs in one basket. The 5% acceptance rate is ridiculous, so…

@CIRCUITDEBATER Yeah like everyone said, theres a 95% chance you won’t get in. I too got really attached to the program, but I’m trying to forget it exists, because chances are I won’t get in. I recommend you do the same- when the time comes, if you don’t get in, you won’t care, and if you do, it’ll come as a pleasant surprise!

I already know I’m not getting in so I am not even attaching myself to it. What I’m scared for is when college applications roll around, I am going to be falling in love with college after college, and the worst part will be if I get into two I like and I have to choose…

I know that TASP is probably the top choice for most of us (as it is for me!) but what other summer programs did you all apply to?
