So bummed out that I did not get selected as a finalist. Going to have to tell my mother, who has high hopes for me (in reference to TASP and life in general).
Sigh.
I feel like punching a wall.
If anybody who got chosen could send me their essays, that would be greatly appreciated and I would be tremendously grateful.
Yes.
@curiositea @palinoia @ruth2019 @malaalenase Congrats for being finalists! would you guys please share your essays? I really want to learn from you all. PleassSEEEEE I LOVE U ALL <3
PM me!
Hi, I’m new! I got the finalist email about 9 hours ago and I’m an international student. I couldn’t help but notice that earlier, you guys were talking about the number of people that got the interview, but my email didn’t have that. Do you think intl people get different emails?
Well, I’m an international student too (got rejected), and my mail basically said that there are only 56 spots and there were nearly 1500 applicants, etc. etc.
I suspect that only rejected students, regardless of nationality, were given the numbers and the low statistical probability of being accepted (around 3%).
Ahh, I suppose that makes sense. It’s been said before and as much as it might not be of much help right now, TASP is ridiculously difficult, and applying is an achievement in itself.
What I can’t wrap my head around is the number of finalists they took; it’s usually 120-130. How many acceptances even are there if it’s just 56 finalists what
@ariareus That’s exactly what I’m thinking! 56 finalists… they usually accept near that number of applications each year???
I was thinking they’d take more people this year given that there are three different universities. I couldn’t believe it was 56 people.
Ah I would also like to read some of the accepted essays if you guys wouldn’t mind sharing! Congrats to you guys! @palinoia @malaalenase @ariareus @curiositea
Rejected. Sigh. It’s crazy to think about there are only 56 finalists when you know the interview will reject some of them…how many people will be in each university this year??? Things just don’t compute now…
Lolll you guys do realize that it’s not 56 finalists right? It’s more like 120 finalists. 10% or the applicants got through the interview phase last year, and 50 percent of those kids got in the program. They said 56 spaces not finalists in the Email
I live in the US and mine didn’t say how many finalists there were. Based on last year’s CC thread for TASP, it’s actually the same email they sent a year ago with the dates updated
@silverarrow15 and anyone else who asked for finalist essays: I’m not comfortable sharing my essays due to some of the content, but if you PM me I can tell you generally what each of them were about!
Accepted!!! Can’t believe it!! Like @curiositea, PM Me so I can tell you what my essays were about. Talk to y’all soon!!
My email did not include any numbers either. Perhaps there was a difference in the acceptance and rejection emails?
@thebly Thanks for the input and information. However, try not to be so condescending. Nobody likes a sanctimonious bloke.
My essays are pretty personal, but as said previously, PM and I’d be willing to talk about them generally
@THEGAMER10293847 I think you need to take it a little more lightly mate. I just find it a bit amusing how some people don’t read carefully enough
I do come off a bit strong. My point still stands. Let this be the end of this matter. I have no intention of turning this into a shytepost.
