The maryland one! My second choice might the michigan one idk yet… what about y’all?
I’m most interested in Cornell II, and if not that then Michigan. I would be pretty happy with any of them, though.
I’m most interested in Michigan, the Cornell II, Cornell I, Maryland
for the how have you hurt someone one, if it helps, try to think of stuff you’ve done in any organizations or groups that u work for! i was brainstorming for weeks and i couldn’t think of anything, but an example just popped into my head today so dont give up
also, if anyone wants to swap essays and give feedback, just pm me
ooh yes i’d be interested @icravedeath! i’m gonna finish mine first tho lol maybe next week?
I’m terrified I’m not gonna do well, but I am trying so
Currently my top choice is Maryland, but I’m not sure–I have very little interest in anime or manga and I don’t know how that would effect my enjoyment of the program. My second choice is Cornell 1.
Good thing it isn’t up to me
@Pebbleeater Why would you not prioritize one that interests you?
When y’all get up to the fourth essay, do tell how you wrote it because my essay may as well be a script for a play at this point.
@Anonymousia for sure i need to finish mine too just pm me when ur ready
Guys, maybe essay swap after submissions are closed? Might not be a good idea to do it before
Haven’t started any of my essays yet but have a pretty good idea of what I’m gonna write for all of them (except 3b ). You can always depend on me to procrastinate on these types of things…
Are you guys all humanities-focused? I’m more of a STEM person, so I don’t even know if TASP would mean much for my apps, but it still sounds like a really cool program
@Anonymousia I’m a heavy STEM guy, but I like humanities as well.
@mullophone first of all, I’m going to be filming a video on that, so I can link it here if you guys want! Here’s a little overview though:
For me, the interview was an hour long, and I had two interviewers, one a recent TASPer and one who went back in… the '80s, I want to say. The questions mainly stemmed from what I had written in my essays, and touched on places where they wanted me to expand on what I had written about. They also wanted to know more about some of the more unique circumstances I had mentioned, such as going to an online high school. It really wasn’t super scary or anything like that - my interviewers were very nice, and although the questions required me to think on my feet, they didn’t mind if I took a second to think of an answer or anything like that. I don’t look back on it with any trepidation or fear - my interviewers did everything they could to make sure I was comfortable. They’re rooting for you, and so are the rest of us!
@mullophone I like the Maryland one because I find gender norms very interesting. Constructing gender sounds like an neat topic, I’m just not sure about the Japanese pop culture part.
@Pebbleeater I didn’t think I about that part. I actually agree. I guess I just didn’t feel too drawn in by Japanese pop culture either.
Edit: That sounds really coarse, it really just isn’t an interest of mine is what I mean.
@5toryt3ll3r seconded on the interview vid request!
Another suggestion: maybe sometime in the future, some sort of video on your experience/tips on creative writing?
Also, to any previous TASPers/people in the know: how flexible are the prompts? Can I use a podcast as my text for critical analysis?
