taste in music

congrats to you for liking both m.i.a. and girltalk. i love them as well. lol
i like alot of pop, r&b, and int'l music, especially stuff like the freemasons, petshopboys, alphabeat, etc.

I'm still into the spoon fed MTVish stuff even though I don't really watch too much MTV. My main favs. are Usher, John Legend, Kanye West, Chris Brown, Ne-Yo, 2Pac, and T.I. Recently discovered Ya Boy. I can get down with rock also. I like Trust Company, Seether, Creed, Sevendust, Staind. Old stuff is good like Chicago, Rod Stewart, Bryan Adams, Michael Jackson!!!!!

Wow I can't believe no one mentioned the jonas brothers!

Startraksfinest- its okay to like that music if you like it! Im talking about the people who have the one hit from each artist on their iPod. Like you go on there, see that they have MGMT on there, and they only have Time to Pretend. Or count the Across the Universe soundtrack as The Beatles.

That sort of thing makes me sad. I hate the pretentious indie kids just as much though. To me, its not even music appreciation. Its really just like wearing a uniform. You got the fedora, white t, checkered scarf, and tight jeans. I cant believe that listening to Indie music has become a trendy thing...I didnt know music had an effect on what you wear.

I dunno, Ive just been noticing a lot of that lately...

I listen to everything I hear and like... I realized I actually didn't mind country music as much as I thought I would LOL. some songs were alright haha. I like mainstream usually because I can keep up with the artists and they don't disappear or something afterawhile... I also like asian music too :) like younha, big bang, high and mighty color lol :D

maybe its because i'm a guy, but big bang sucks.

For me, it's all about the classic rock and hard rock. Guns N Roses, Queen, Van Halen. Throw in a dash of punk and grunge (a la Bad Religion and Nirvana). I also like some of the older stuff by Billy Joel, Neil Diamond, and a lot of random 80s music. Some of the older rap (Sugar Hill Gang, Run DMC, Tupac) is good as well.

Music just isn't made like it used to be. There is very little music of any worth that comes out nowadays.

Greeeeeen Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!! <3 Favourite band ever. But other than them, I like just about anything. Except Kate Nash.

arvandm, maybe that's because the jonas brothers are the worst thing to have ever opened their stupid 12 year old mouths.

I'm huge on M83, ulrich schnauus, and explosions in the sky right now. But I think, like a lot of other college kids, I like a bunch of bands and different genres of music.

I'll listen to and download whatever sounds good...regardless of what genre it fits into. But most of my music fits into the indie/punk area, like Sleater-Kinney,The Hold Steady, Gang of Four, The Stooges etc. But yeah, I don't think what I listen to has ever influenced what I wear...although a lot of times I can pick out the type of music people listen to by what they wear.

I kind of have an aversion to the MTV type bands because I lose virtually all respect for bands that whore themselves out to the music industry but I can still enjoy the music sometimes.

I love indie! I hope my college has an indie gang... music is the easiest thing for me to talk about. But I'm not pretentious, I'm generally open-minded (i.e. one of my favorites is Radiohead, not some obscure band) except for already mentioned MTV crap. The Jonas Brothers had no right to butcher that Beatles tune in the Target commercials.

I cant even consider the Jonas Brothers as music...but thats what little girls listen to before they can go and find their own music to listen to, I suppose. A lot of my friends like JB and Miley Cyrus and it breaks my heart.

Yeah my favorite band is the Beatles...cant call them obscure either. I also like a lot of electronic music, techno, etc and the Arcade Fire and MGMT and Bright Eyes. But yeah Im pretty open to music, I almost always give it a try (even JB and MC...ughh)

Oh, I saw Explosions in the Sky a few months ago and they were soo good. The guy that started for them though was intense. I think he was on crack or heroin because he kept rubbing himself all over. Anyway, he would make these weird nature noises (no instruments, folks) like birds and then water and then he used his voice like a guitar and drums. So he would record one noise for awhile, then go back and record something else on top of that. Um, I have to say it was the weirdest and coolest thing I have ever seen. Crazy people hahha. Im just sad that I dont remember that guys name, because it was really good relaxing music.

Everything, including indie rock, classical, musical theatre, and yes, pop/hip hop/top 40.

bananaslug that guy who was rubbing himself a lot was on ecstasy. i'm gonna assume he was smiling a lot and sweating profusley.

I can't believe nobody mentioned Metallica's first five. Granted they sucked horribly afterward but still...

Nirvana, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Alice in Chains, Bad Religion, Metallica, Aerosmith, Weezer, Foo Fighters, Queen

Tons of classic rock, alternative rock, indie rock, 90's alternative rock, trance/techno.
I used to be huge into metal, but have really faded...the only metal i listen to now is older metal or system of a down, stone sour, or in flames...no **** that i used to like.

Nirvana and Kurt Cobain, Queen with Freddie Mercury

wow dude i agree 100%
personally i think mtv ****ed the industry

"personally i think mtv ****ed the industry"

Nicely put.

give hope to metallicas new album? or no is it another st.anger
