My son says that neither he nor his room mates have gotten any kind of W-2 forms for doing income tax for 2006. I haven’t pressed him on the matter because he’s up to his eyeballs in exams and preparation for recognition. However, I would like to ask any other cadets out there if they have received W-2’s or whatever form they need for doing income tax. Employers are supposed to have them out by the end of January. Thanks.

Is he set up with My Pay? If so, your W-2 is available when you log in.

Like RJ2011 said, go into myPay and you can print out or download an electronic version of the W2 from the site. Hopefully he has his set-up already.

What exactly r u guys taxed on? I mean your the only "income" is what the allowances right?

Barring an weird circumstances, when you're a cadet, filing taxes just means you'll get some money as a refund (which is nice). Lieutenant tax refunds are quite nice too! ;)

K, sounds good. :)

RTBdad- I asked my son the same question last weekend. I want him to file his taxes while he is home next week. He said he needed a PIN number to access the system. He said he didn't know the PIN number. After reading the other posts from current cadets, could you shead some light on this.
Is the PIN no. his SS#?
I have another question. If he doen't have time to retrieve his W-2's, will he be able to access the system from his notebook computer at our home.

BTW, my prayers go out to ALL 2010 cadets as you prepare and complete Recognition! You have STRENGTH WITHIN!

He will have to get a PIN number snail mailed to him. I don't think they will send it electronically or by phone. Could always try though in a situation like this.

I don't think our notebooks have access outside the academy. People that tried before that I know of had issues reconnecting to the USAFA network.

For My Pay, Login is your SS#. Your pin is something you create. There is a "Forget pin number" which will create a one time access where you will then have to recreate a new pin. The new pin that My Pay creates is sent snail mail.

You can access MY PAY on any computer, print W-2s at home every year.
