loribelle, Thank you! I hope that is the case for my son. What was your son’t major? TCU is my ds’s first choice so we would like to get merit. Fingers crossed.
My son was deferred then accepted. No merit letter attached. Hoping he gets something as he received money at every other school he applied too.
We never got a hard copy letter with the amount in her acceptance package and she (D) was accepted regular decision; she is a specialty major in the fine arts department that requires an audition with a separate secondary acceptance into the program as well.
All merit/grant aid offers were electronically on the portal except for a separate department scholarship which was an email from the department head.
@3boys4m3 - He received both his acceptance and scholarship letter last week (thursday I believe). He did regular decision Major Economics.
Has anyone heard of any acceptances off the wait-list yet? My daughter’s application status says she will hear something BY April 1st. I was curious if they will let all the wait list candidates know at one time or if they let students know a few at a time as “positions” open up.
I was told yesterday, waitlist is starting to move, acceptances are being sent out!
do you happen to know how many people are on the waitlist and what percent of the waitlist will be accepted?
@getanswers - No, not sure on waitlist numbers but was told by a TCU admissions rep that they are starting to notify waitlisted students.
Yay! My daughter was just notified that she was accepted off the waitlist. Perfect birthday present for her!!!
Out of the blue last week my son told us that he was accepted off the waitlist and that TCU was his first choice. We are from the northeast and are not familiar with TCU. I’m hoping some of you who have researched the school can give us an idea whether a degree from TCU is respected outside of Texas or the Southwest?
My son still hasn’t heard and is still on waitlist for TCU. I see a lot of people heard last week so maybe we should just give up and focus on the schools he did get into
TCU was his first choice and it’s sad to see him check email everyday
@seawolf93, TCU is a Top 100 university in the country. Being from the NE area myself, TCU wasn’t a known commodity to me either, but that was 30+ years ago. It’s a great school and like most colleges, if you do well, get good grades you’ll have great job opportunities. What are his other options? Where does he want to work post graduation? What field?
@TXDad56, Thank you. He is pursuing a pre-med track and his preferred major is neuroscience or biology depending on the school. He is also considering Syracuse, Northeastern, Fordham, and Virginia Tech.
So ALL great schools. Interesting how TCU’s his First Choice. Long way from home. I’d be comparing price and comfort factors as all of them should have great name recognition to potential employers.
Hi Can you tell me if your daughter applied ED/EA? I noticed the date on your original comment to be in October (much earlier than when applications were due) her portal changed to student homepage.
