TCU, SMU, and UT Austin

Hey I’m going to be a junior in high school and want to know what my chances would be getting into these schools. I currently have a 4.3 average in high school (3.7 or 3.8 not being weighted). I only have a 24 right now on the ACT but am of course taking again to score better. I have not taken the SAT yet but am signed up to next January (yes it is the old sat test I’m taking). I know as of right now my chances are probably slim but especially for UT Austin. However, I included it because my dad went there for grad school. I am relatively well balanced when it comes to my résumé so far. I have been recognized by my state of Arkansas of my success in high school tennis, but don’t want to play for college. I also have over 400 hours of community service, and was recently a short term exchange student that represented Rotary Club. Thank you for taking your time for reading this and I would love feedback!

Improve your test score either on the ACT or SAT. Need to be in high 20s for acceptance to any of them and 30s for aid.

Our son is a senior and will be applying to TCU, SMU, and UT Texas. He has a 35 ACT and around a 4.43 GPA. You can take the ACT several more times this year. Study the red ACT book and take practice tests. You should be able to bring your score up by the end of the year if you stick to it

Your UT chances are pretty slim as an OOS student. The others are live options if you get your test scores up a little bit.

Are you only interested in big Texas schools? Would you consider a UT branch?
