@ luvya683 - I went ahead and completed it. Anyway, I am heading to the center to check my TF status! TTYL

They must be putting all the decisions in there, so thats why the website is down! NO TF STATUS CHECK TODAY ! LOL. I hope everyone on the East Coast are allright!

@CertainlySet, you interviewed in Atlanta? Where you from?

I read that if you see loan or grant money at the bottom under where it says view your documents then your accepted. The “complete” and “under review” means nothing it is about the numbers.

TFA admissions twitter says that the TFA site down due to Sandy. They’re trying to get it up ASAP. :)

@luvya683 By the looks of previous threads, it seems that goes up the day of finding out whether are accepted or not.

@RShackelford I am from Atlanta.

Hey everyone- just a couple more days! Hope everyone’s hanging in there! I was thinking about my interview and remembered my interviewer asked me about how selective my TA program was. Did anyone else get a question like that? I thought it was kind of odd. I’m not going to be like ‘super competitive I’m one of the chosen few!’ ha

AR2180, yeah, they asked me a similar question in my phone interview about a past leadership position, and then they asked me that in my final interview for my current job. I’m not entirely sure what they’re trying to learn from it, other than that its a competitive position. Who knows?

I wonder if all the mess created by Sandy will cause a delay in our notification on Thursday. Selfish thought, I know :/. My thoughts go out to everyone effected by the storm.

@RShackelford, I don’t think that’s selfish. I was wondering the same thing and I guess it is a possibility with all the power outages that some TFA staffs aren’t working and, therefore, not able to work on placements and getting notifications out.
My prayers go out to everyone affected by Sandy! Hope this finds all y’all in the East safe and sound!

Not too much longer until we all know. I am praying for good news.

@ar2180 My interviewer asked me how many people were in my PhD program and if I knew the percentages of how many people applied and were accepted. She also asked me how I was selected for my current job.

Two days left! Hoping for good things!

Wow this thread is way longer than the thread from last year for sure! And there are still three more deadlines!
Two more days left! It’s probably a good thing that the TFA website is down. That way people can stop creating fairy tales and panicking about how the TF status relates.

Okay so for whatever reason earlier, the board would not let me post anything.

Anyway, per the TFA FB page, notification will still go out on time on Thursday. I actually think some people are working from home or in different regions. The TF lady emailed me this morning.

I’m also nervous that Sandy might delay admissions notification! They are gonna give us all panic attacks haha.

As far as leadership positions go, I was an officer in my sorority, counselor at a summer camp, director at a summer camp, write for the Greek newspaper at my university, hold a position at a local insurance agency, and have mentored at middle and high schools for all of college. Honestly, it sounds like everyone’s experiences are so diverse and wonderful in their own way that we are all so different. Like they say, they are not looking for one specific thing in a corps member. I was also asked about how I gained my leadership positions and on what basis I was given them. They seem to care a lot about numbers and results and specifics of what you did.

On another GREAT note, I listened to the webinars from last week that I missed and they made me so excited! The one about partnering organizations was great. It is very reassuring to know that even if I don’t get TFA, there are other similar organizations with the same mission that I can apply to. It was very encouraging.

Like some of ya’ll have mentioned, I also want to teach after graduation, no matter what. I’m just unsure of in what capacity I will teach. I would love to be in an urban school with the mission of closing the achievement gap (hence why I applied to TFA), so that is the ultimate goal. However, I would to be a part of a greater organization with that same mission because I know how amazing it is to be with like-minded people who come together with the same philosophy in mind.

On Facebook they have confirmed that applicants with still receive notifications on Thursday.

TFA site is back up!

@cajunshrimp where did you find the link to listen to the webinar on partner organizations? I can’t find it! Thanks!

@Certainlyset I think there is a link to the webinar on the TFA blog at tfa-admissions.blogspot.com
