@iraja: Yes, one person definitely stood out. It was because he/she came in half an hour late. Also, during lunch break he/she completely was bashing on the organization. I could not believe what he/she said and I wish we could mention these type of things to the interviewers (but it would seem very very very unprofessional of me if I did so). So, I was just like " ahh huhh…hmmm… i don’t know" whenever he/she would bash on TFA. I knew he/she was definitely not in it for the right reasons and I hopeeeeeeee it showed on the one-on-one interview. If this person gets accepted, then I think TFA would need a better way of weeding these type of people out.

Oh man, iTeach, that might have been me. Oops, was I not supposed to bash TFA at the TFA final interview? My bad. Hahaha, I’m totally messing.

iTeach, I was looking more so for people that stood out in a good way. Honestly, though, your story is slightly troubling. How does a person not understand basic rules for a final interview? You don’t say anything negative about the company that you’re trying to work with. I thought that was basic common sense…

Hi All! I am new to the group- a fellow TFA hopeful. I interviewed last Monday and the wait is already killing me. Hoping to be placed in SD or LA!

@iteach somebody in my interview showed up 30 min late as well! Went to the wrong campus :0

@iraja The ones who stood out in my group were the people who were interactive. There were a few people who made no effort to engage us or check for learning. Plain old boring lectures.

I tried to tell myself I was not going to come on here because I knew I would get all psyched out about my interview/acceptance and what not !

I was interviewed on October 17th and haven’t had any change in my transitional funding yet. I did read over a blog from last year of people who were in the same position as we are now… there were definitely some people in that blog who had a “complete” transitional funding, but we’re not accepted to TFA…

So, if you’re like me… and nothing has changed, I don’t think we should worry too much! After all, there’s a chance that the people at TFA who work toward completing everyone’s transitional funding have nothing to do with the people who work on acceptances/placements, etc.

I am nervous to say that I really agree with everyone else about the final interview! I felt like there were a handful of people in my interview group who did pretty well- I’m sure though that everyone performs very differently when it comes to the personal interview. I felt like I did well after leaving my interview, but ever since all I’ve done is over-analyze all of my responses and think of everything I thought I “should” have said. Oh well!

Best of luck to everyone!

Interview Date: 10/18
Transitional Funding: Under Review !

If that even means anything. I graduate this December, 52 days away, and I’m going to start applying to graduate schools as well so that hopefully if accepted to both I can do a two year deferral!

Anyone else applying to graduate school programs as well.

I am currently in a doctoral program and I plan to continue if accepted into TFA, crazy I know but I know people who have done it.

I have been lurking on this thread for a the past two days, and listening to all of you makes me feel less crazy :). My fiance think’s I’m impatient, but I’m just so stinkin’ anxious! Here’s a little bit about me: I am currently in a graduate level teaching program at a state university and will be certified in my state before entering the corps. I applied to the first deadline and interviewed on October 18th. My highly preferred regions were Greater Nashville, Appalachia, Charlotte, and Eastern North Carolina. My transitional funding application status changed tonight to complete. this is what it says: Transitional Funding Application Status: Complete

Your application has been approved. You will be able to see your award amount below after the notification date, should you be accepted to the corps.

If your status has changed, is this what it says for you, too? I hope that the reason they completed it so quickly is that they clearly wanted me, and I hope it’s not becuase they knew they didn’t want me. Lol, know what I mean? The next week and a half is going to drive me nuts!!!

Haha, I know what you mean. And that’s what my application says as well.

Judging by your preferences, are you from the South?

Originally from Metro Detroit, lived in the south for several years. I live in an area kind of between all of these places, but there is no place particularly close. I asked for a special circumstance placement because my father is very ill and I need to be able to get home quickly if necessary. Otherwise I’d pick Oklahoma, South Dakota, or Delta.

Interview Date: October 18th
TF: Under Review, submitted on the last day

Hello All,

Rather than just lurk, I thought I would sign up. This place seems to get quite a few TFA lurkers. I could only find one message board with a TFA thread and it was here. Anyways, goodluck to all. I read last year’s TFA thread and it seemed like they had some good information and some good people. I am trying to wait patiently but it is not working. At this point I feel I could go either way. I keep telling myself not to freak out about the TF status but it is not working haha. Did anyone else want to work in Cleveland?

@RED0088 Yea, I’m filling out law school applications as well. Hopefully I can get a 2 year deferral. Most of the law schools are very fond of TFA and are willing to defer my application. I get my LSAT scores back Oct 31, but I’m more worried about the TFA results.

There was one girl that really stood out in our group because she had broken her hip and had had hip surgery the week before the interview so she was there on crutches. When I say she nailed her teaching lesson, she nailed it. She acted like the crutches weren’t even there even though as the day went on, you could tell she was in pain but she pushed through it all. I was impressed!

Awesome what Law schools are you considering. I’m applying to graduate social work problems as well and hoping to get a two year deferral. I eventually would like to go to law school and study policy of some kind.

Ignore my handle, I was wondering if mine from junior year of high school still existed, and lo and behold, it did. :)

I interviewed on Friday, and haven’t seen any TF status changes - still says they haven’t reviewed my documents. I wondered if I was the only one tracking that just in case it had any clues, I guess not.

Did anyone who had Seattle on their APF get told they had to attend a webinar this week?

Hey crazgood31, I got an invite to the webinar as well, but I won’t be able to make it tonight. I’m assuming they’re going to post the webinar on the website? I hope so.
Also, I interviewed on Friday as well, and I haven’t seen any difference in my TF either. I’m getting anxious, but its nice to know that I have company.

On my transitional funding status page it says this:

Transitional Funding Application Status: Under Review
We have not yet reviewed your application or documents.

Does anybody else have something that looks like this? Or is this the default, meaning no change has occurred yet? I was wondering if anyone knew if “Under Review” was a progress or if everyone’s says “Under Review”.

Sorry, I am definitely doing my fair share of obsessing and over-analyzing!

@mflana4: that is the default that means no changes have occurred. My TF status changed to complete today, so they aren’t done yet! And, as someone who stalked the 2012 thread before, I will reiterate what other people have already said that:

1) some people’s TF never changed, and they still got in.
2) some people had the TF change and did not get in.
3) Some people had their TF change the day of notification only, from “under review” straight to money numbers.

So while it is really tempting to excited about a change or get your nerves worked up about nothing changing, it is not a reliable predictor of anything. 8 more days… ;)

Iraja, I’m not sure if they will post it honestly. They didn’t say that and they said we must attend… But they can’t expect everyone to make one on such short notice!

@pinkpanther09

That’s some statistical review due to serious lurking! LOL. But I did the same thing. My TF status has not been changed yet.

Did anyone opt for early notification?

Does anyone think they would do TF by last name?
