Ok, so for future applicants - if you REALLY want to know ahead of time if you’ve been admitted, the trick (as I’ve accidentally discovered) is to NOT upload an official transcript (i.e. upload an unofficial one) by the deadline. Because if you get in, you will get an e-mail after your final interview (which I still believe is the day they make the decision) urging you to upload your official transcript.

So here’s my tip: I figured that if I had odds stacked against me (I am fairly hip older-than-most-of-your-moms NYC Ph.D. student still writing diss college adjunct), I should put Memphis down as my top priority region to add an extra point in my column. It seemed to have worked. Have gotten assignment to teach ESL in Memphis! ESL was my first choice anywhere! Whoo-hoo! Would rather have been assigned to Miami, but okay by me!

Sorry for those who didn’t get in this time around. Try TNTP (that was plan B for me).

Janet

P.S.–Any Memphis-bound folk have pets to worry about?

Whoo! A lot of acceptances! Congratulations everyone And to those who didn’t make it this time around, I understand how awful it must feel. I have been rejected from several job opportunities, including one where I finished 2nd place at a DREAM school that would have been absolutely amazing. However, since I didn’t get that, I now have this opportunity with TFA. I know you probably don’t really want to hear it right now, but honestly you never know what twists life will throw at you and I believe it happens for a reason.

A quick side note, does anyone have specific sub-regions you are assigned too? I have Chicago, but I know NW Indiana falls into that. I specifically Highly Prefed Chicago and Least Prefed NW Indiana, but I don’t know where I got exactly. Also, I got special education which is kind of broad in terms of grade level. I think most states do a k-12 special ed certificate! Hopefully I’m towards the higher grades. But grateful and thrilled regardless!

congrats to everyone who got accepted today!

I’m really excited about my regional placement but am concerned about my subject assignment (Early Childhood Education). Does anyone know about flexibility in changing subject assignment?

@futureteacher128 It may depend on your regional placement but the testing packet for my region says that early childhood ed. is prek- 3rd grade.

Congratulations to those who have been accepted so far. If you haven’t and you truly have a heart for kids, there are other programs out there similar to TFA with the same missions so don’t feel as though you aren’t good enough to make a difference because you certainly are!

Still waiting to see if anyone has been placed in Alabama. #BamaTFA!!!

@futureteacher128 From the last deadline, there was at least one person who was assigned a subject AND region that was completely out of left field. It turns out that it was a mistake once they got contacted by a TFA staff member. How did you preference early childhood education? Did you have it least preferred? I got the general sense that you leave yourself open to a subject even if you just prefer it (2nd column). But make sure to bring that up in the call you have with your contact. I know it’s rare to change, but I think they will work with you especially if you are not at all comfortable with the subject.
