Teach For America 2014 Corps

@cicerocalliope I am logged in currently. Just try again there may be too many people trying to log in at one time

I’m not having any trouble with logging in.

Speaking of, did anyone else make some last-minute subject/region placement changes yesterday? lol

@mossmoss I did! added a high priority region to my highly preferred.

Does anyone know what if any reason there is in the regional survey that gets emailed to you? I had one for Washington but not sure if I should read into that at all other than knowing they want me to be more educated about the area and the obstacles in that region.

@mossmoss Yes I did “highly prefer” Detroit so I am hoping that I get accepted for that region. I did receive an email from the Detroit region asking if we would like for us to consider Detroit in our preferences.

Hi, I’m a 4DL, and like most of you, anxiously awaiting March 13. I do feel good about the way the interview stages went. I guess I would be a diverse corps member, I’m currently teaching at a high needs TFA partnered school here in Jacksonville. I think Teach For America is great. I’m nervous because I’m not sure about this regional survey being e-mailed to some people. Is it a sign of admission???

@happ1one, did you interview there?

I’m worried though. I indicated that I needed to remain deeply rooted in Jax to continue to close the achievement gap for the students in Duval County Public Schools … and my certification is in English 6-12, so I’m not exactly as flexible as some other potential corps members with no strings attached. Hopefully my rationale is understood and encouraged. I wish you all luck! We only have a few more days.

@msmatt I doubt that the regional survey is a sign of admission. I really came to the conclusion, mind you this is with no further information to tell me otherwise, that the survey was just that. A survey meant to further educate an applicant about a region in case they wanted to update their preference form after learning additional information.

I am really just taking a guess. Does anyone else have any idea?

@msmatt I think the regional surveys are sent to those who chose regions where TFA is highly contentious. Like Seattle.

Hello Everyone!

I completed my final interview on February 27th, it was everything I expected and planned for. I can say to those who applied within the last deadline to be YOURSELF the lesson plan can be stressful as I was extremely nervous, but I did my lesson plan on Active and Passive voice used props and completed within 5 minutes, my interviewers were super nice and laid back, you then move on to the fishbowl exercise with your group. All of us were very outspoken but we all listened to each other’s points. We came to our conclusion by the time our time was up. My one on one was really laid back my interviewer and I discussed issues in education and her take on TFA. I really hope that I get in please pray for ME!!!

@natgeowild I am hoping for Jacksonville, with special circumstances. They say they need Spanish so I’m hoping maybe there’s a spot for that, though if I did open up my subject preferences in hopes of them giving me something in that region. Those are good places to choose for bilingual ed though!!

@msmatt I’m also trying for JAX with special circumstances (my partner is at UF for PhD and needs to finish that!)

@mossmoss Yes, I interviewed in Detroit last Monday.

@natgeowild I believe the reason why they say San Diego is a potential expansion region is because TFA does not have formal partnership with the region but does have corp members working there and looking to establish partnerships with schools there.

With the whole region survey thing, I think only people who applied for Washington received that email about the region survey (any other region out there? ) so i doubt it is any hint for acceptance to receive that email.

I am a winter person lol so i hope I get placed somewhere up north like Delaware and other regions I applied for but my #1 is still Las Vegas Valley (high priority).

10 MORE DAYS EVERYONE :)

Hey everyone, I’m new to CC but have been stalking this thread because I just had a final interview on the 24th and I am freaking out! I also have a potential problem. On my coursework info, only about half of my coursework uploaded, I just noticed this yesterday! I emailed TFA via the help tool in the applicant center, and got a pretty dry response that basically said too bad and they can only review what I’ve submitted and if they need additional info, that they would reach out to me. Does anyone think this mistake could affect my admission? Super worried! :-S

@littleapple89 do you have a recruiter? Maybe try emailing them?

Has anyone signed up for the webinar tonight on what comes after notification?

@needtoteach I did. should be interesting

I’m super nervous still. I haven’t received any surveys or any notification on the TF application.

@Dreamer5 What are your regional preferences? For that matter, what are everyone’s regional preferences?
