Teach For America 2014 Corps

No post interview survey here either.

@mossmoss I will def keep y’all updated. I check it a ridiculous amount. haha

I am getting nervous…I hope they see that I picked all high need areas!

To all the finalists, take a deep breath guys … Its the weekend, they aren’t even reviewing your application or the recommendations your interviewers sent them. Relax today and tomorrow lol We can all go back and worry next week and the week of March 13th haha… Believe me, I am dying too but it doesn’t do you any good worrying about it when they aren’t even working on it lol

hello everyone, just to clarify, in order to change your regional preferences before the march 2nd deadline, we just “unsubmit” and then “submit”? Or is there another way to do this? Thanks!

@idetr14 Yup, just unsubmit and resubmit!

Does anyone know about these high need areas though! Do they need people?

@cholt5 thanks!

By any chance does anybody know what is the recommended number of “least preferred” choices we can put on our subject preferences? Or does it not matter? I’m only interested in teaching math and science!

@Idetr14 Just choose your highly preferred and preferred (if you want) and the rest will go under Least Preferred automatically.

I chose HS Math, HS General Science and HS Social Science for highly preferred and ESL and Biology for Preferred and then the rest went under Least Preferred automatically

Did everyone see that they even extended the February deadline for another week. Maybe they are needing people.

I’m so scared! I had my interview Thursday. I feel like I did well on the lesson plan part and excellent during the group discussion. However, my final interview seemed more informal and I felt like I did a better part at developing a relationship with my interviewer (who was so nice and friendly!) than I did at conveying my leadership skills in quantifiable ways. There weren’t even any questions about my leadership skills, actually! I don’t know if I should take that as a bad sign. March 13 is not coming fast enough!

Is there anyone on here who made Detroit a preference. I am hearing that a lot of people aren’t putting Detroit as a preference. So I am wondering if the 4DL and the 5DL will just be placed there if they have a shortage. I put Detroit because I leave in Michigan. So I was just wondering…???

So I have been reading/scanning/stalking this forum since yesterday and decided to join. I found myself so excited to follow and find out about the your statuses!

I applied for 4DL and had my phone interview in early February. I just had my final interview this past Tuesday. I did apply for TF. It’s just a waiting game now, and a hard one at that.

I put several regions down for preference but my top 3 were 1. Washington 2. Colorado 3. Rhode Island. I understand that those regions are pretty tough to get into but all I can do is my best and pray that God leads me where He needs me.

Are there other married folks on here who have put any consideration into plans with families should they be accepted? I don’t want to get to far ahead of myself but neglecting to plan out finances and family situations is just not in me. What are your thoughts on this?

@ambernadeau did you get a survey about Washington after your interview?

@kv4life I put down san diego also but how come everyone is saying it’s a potential expansion region? the san diego page lists the number of corps members there in 2013, as well as the current grade placement percentages and it also shows on the map where the corps members have been placed.

did anyone take the spanish test?

@Afradett91 I don’t see that! Are you sure? On their website, it says the 5th deadline was 2/20.

@happ1one you might have a really high chance of being placed there then. Did you highly prefer it?

@natgeowild

Yup- took the Spanish test! I would love to get a bilingual ed/Spanish placement, guess we’ll find out if we passed later this week. It’s funny because I majored in Spanish and used to have great “standard” Spanish, but after almost 2 years living in rural Guatemala it faded into fluent colloquial speaking Spanish, haha.

@tfa2260 me too I’d love to teach bilingual ed. yea i dont speak the “standard” spanish but I think the kids will respect us more for it. hopefully we get accepted and placed where we want. Where did you preference? I highly preferred LA, san diego, all the texas regions, and miami since they are mostly spanish speakers there.

@NCSUTeach Yes I did receive that survey. I haven’t found out though in my research if that is a good sign when it comes to regional placement, do you know?

@ambernadaeau I am also married and have thought a lot about how to make the transition with my family should I get accepted. You can email me if you want to discuss this further

Anyone else unable to login to the Application Center? Every time I attempt to login it just reads Apache Tomcat 404. I hope that means they are doing something with it, but I don’t know. Any help?
