Teach For America 2014 Corps

Thanks for the tip @elemteacher!

Thanks for the feedback! Everyone here is so great. I feel like everyone has contributed so much to this thread that future applicants can learn from, myself included! Guys I’m so excited to hear all the news! :)

Just went back through the last 3 pages and saw that everyone’s little CC is yellow. Does this mean we’re all online? I’m guessing so haha

Indeed, we’re all sitting here refreshing til our fingers bleed.

Oh gosh, I’m a nervous wreck right now and I can see everyone is too. I’m also refreshing like crazy lmao. I’m starting to hope for a miracle because none of my TF documents have been verified at this point :(.

Good Luck everyone!!! Remember to breath. We are all here because there is something special about us. We will all do something great!

Mine either :(

Lol@ refreshing til our fingers bleed.

No word yet? :(

my documents still haven not been verified either :frowning:

I feel like such a weirdo/nerd I am dressed in my halloween get-up sitting on the couch looking over this thread…haha

Doesnt look weird at all!

@ dreaminspire89 what are you for halloween?

Ooh yeah let’s talk about Halloween! Is anyone doing anything? As I said, my friend promised we’d go out to the bar after this class to ensure I don’t spend the night alone either way. But we decided to dress up as minions together… haha. Don’t know how much longer it will be acceptable to go out & dress up, so I’ll do it now. Hope I’m a happy minion.

Also, my laptop only has an hour and half of battery left, so they better hurry up.

OMG… This is killing me and I already know that I’m in - WHERE AM I GOING FOR THE LOVE OF EVERYTHING!!! I feel for all of us. Just checked my email and at least for us early admits they said AFTER 6pm… So close, but yet much too far…

And for 3DL’s, phone interviews are great practice for the final interview. Lots of great tips on the thread already but I have one more. They love to have questions answered in the STAR Method. I tried to link a doc from them that I found in the depths of the internet somewhere but basically here’s a passage from it:

Situation: Describe the situation that you were in or the task that you needed to accomplish. You must describe a specific event or situation, not a generalized description of what you have done in the past. Be sure to give enough detail for the interviewer to understand. This situation can be from a previous job, from a volunteer experience, or any relevant event.

Task: What goal were you working toward?

Action: Describe the actions you took to address the situation with an appropriate amount of detail and keep the focus on YOU. What specific steps did you take and what was your particular contribution? Be careful that you don’t describe what the team or group did when talking about a project, but what you actually did. Use the word “I,” not “we” when describing actions.

Result: Describe the outcome of your actions and don’t be shy about taking credit for your behavior. What happened? How did the event end? What did you accomplish? What did you learn? Make sure your answer contains multiple positive results.

If you look around online you can find the interview questions and prep answers using the STAR method. I used the same info I prepped for phone interview to prepare for my final interview. My final interview ran long (45+ mins), but one staff member told me during a break to make sure that I conveyed my passion for TFA/ending educational inequity. Interviewer never asked; I absolutely brought it up when asked if I had any questions about the interview or position. HTH

I have to leave :frowning: I’ll be back shortly and hopefully we’ll have good news! Keep track of the survey!

At least you already know you’re in…

I received an email and thought it was about TFA. Turns out it wasn"t. Now my whole body is shaking! I don’t know if I can handle this.

@rolemodel32 - I feel ya. Every time I get an email I panic. I’ve received about 20 since I’ve been on here waiting for a notification.

Why don’t we know yet? I might start hyperventilating ! I’m failing at trying to keep calm and am desperately trying not to eat my feelings!

@ambitiousme I am going Belle from Beauty in the Beast. I know its cheesy but i just dont care! haha. My little shih tzu is a bee…so we are Beauty and the Bee!

Not sure if that is actually funny or if I’m starting to go a little psychotic because of this waiting!!
