Hello everyone, I am also a 3DLer. I didn’t have a phone interview. I was kind of upset, I was looking forward to that. I hope you all did well on your phone interviews.

I am from Philly and I go to school right outside of the city in this little town called Oxford.

Where and what are you all hoping to teach?

Hey y’all I’m a 3DLer and I’m from Texas. I had my phone interview yesterday and wow, my interviewer was sooo nice! I think it went pretty well.

Yeah I’m 3DL and I’m not doing a phone interview either so the final interview is my first one haha. But I’m pretty stoked about it. I’m from Northeast Ohio but I’ve moved around here and there since I’ve been out of college for a year and a half or so.

I’m hoping to teach Social Studies or Special Education. I already have my degree and certification in Social Studies so I’d be happy to continue with that, but I think I would like to be dually certified in Special Ed too so either one would be great. Definitely secondary, not sure about the elementary students. I could do ESL or English too since I’ve spent a year teaching ESL.

I would like to be in the mid-west/northeast and stick somewhat close to Ohio. Definitely an urban place too, but not too picky about the actual city. Maybe Indy, DC, Baltimore, Philly? I’m in the rural setting now and I’m craving to be back in the city.

Good luck to all the 3DLers!! Sorry to tell you but the time will seem to pass horribly slow while you wait to hear back. You’ll survive though :)

Thanks, @iteacher! I noticed mine changed at just about 5:30 eastern.

Phone interview went great – I graduated in 2012, so I’ve had my fair share of phone interviews, and they can be awkward and uncomfortable. The TFA alum I spoke with today really did her best to make it such a friendly, informative conversation.

@townie01, I have been able to access TFAnet. After accepting the offer I received an email telling me I would be able to log in using my applicant center logon within 3 hours. I was eventually able to do so.

@sarabea126 Some of us were discussing it earlier. I think most people agree that’s it not incredibly important, especially the timed portion. But I found that the written portion allowed me to show my personality and devotion to the cause. I think some people commented that the were unable to communicate their passion for education in the final interview since everything focused on your resume, your skills, and the role play. This was especially the case for people who were sent directly to the final interview. I was nervous that I didn’t have a time to express my passion with my final interviewer. So I think the written portion of the online activity allows you to fill in some holes of your passion and dedication that you might not be able to elaborate on as you move forward through the process.

@townie01 I have had issues connecting. But I just accepted my offer last night and though it said in 3 hours I should be able to log in, I couldn’t this morning. I sent TFANet an inquiry but then saw on the applicant center that I should receive an email within 48 hours of how to connect so I’m still waiting on that as well.

I accepted my offer on Friday, but I keep having a redirect loop issue when trying to access TFANet. I cleared my cookies and followed the instructions for addressing such an issue on multiple browsers, but still cannot connect. I e-mailed the TFANet support e-mail and have yet to receive a response, so I was wondering if anyone was dealing with anything similar…

Hey guys, I wanted to know if anyone else received a letter from your region? I accepted my offer a couple of days ago for Houston, and yesterday I received a hand written letter from a middle school student in Houston welcoming me as a new teacher. It really made me tear up! lol

@blackneducated: That’s so awesome. I would’ve teared up as well.

I haven’t accepted my offer (YET) as my special circumstance for Chicago had a special circumstance - I was placed into Mississippi (7-12 English, which I love but for my circumstances) because Chicago is voting on Friday to change the law on GPA requirements for certification. If it passes, I don’t meet the new minimum threshold that I would’ve met if I were placed for 2013 instead of waitlisted. So I must wait. Again… But patience is a virtue that I’m being forced into mastering lol. All good though.

A handwritten note??? That is the sweetest, quickest welcome ever. Congrats!

@blackneducated awwww that’s sooo sweet! I just accepted my offer yesterday for Houston High School. I put my parents address down instead of my school, I hope I get one!! :-)

@lampposts From the number of acceptances and rejections from this year so far, it looks like being sent to the final interview means TFA likes what they see. So I would say at that point, the offer is yours to lose. If they send you straight to the final, it’s a vote of confidence in you on paper. The final interview gives them a chance to see you in person. So if you got through to the final interview, BREATHE!
I don’t know about everyone else, but I was most worried about my resume and whether it had enough “stuff” to impress them. I know a lot of people who would be great for TFA, but they couldn’t get far enough through the process because their activities were not good enough. So take stock in knowing that if you made it to the final interview, whether straight through or not, I truly believe the job is yours. You just gotta make sure you hit all the right chords during the final interview.

Hello you guys! I’ve been lurking on these pages for a few months and I broke down and registered because why not?
I’m a 3DL as well, and I am so anticipating November 13! Naturally, I’ve been mentally recalling all of my phone interview responses, looking over my notes, and trying to think about what I answered for the online activity everyday. Lord. It’s so good to have this forum to relieve our stresses because Jesus, I’m sure everyone I’ve been ‘venting’ to about this is so sick of it.
Here’s to November 13th when we find out!
