HIMYM14 Mine was just like yours and stressedgrad. It said complete and the past couple days it switched back to under review…

I was accepted early notification and mine changed back to under review too. I think what happens is that it changes to complete when they check you documentation. Then when they have to go back and decide what your award amount is going to be it changes back to under review until that is decided. After being accepted I inquired about my TF and was told they had not determined an amount yet because they were still going through applications, yet mine said complete at the time.

Milwaukee was my 3rd choice and Baltimore was my 4th choice.

I struggled picking regions for my Assignment Preference form. I lived in Chicago but I have never been to any other cities on the TFA map. I picked regions where I had family and I would like to live beyond the two year commitment.

Just another creeper finally making an account and posting. My TF status changed to incomplete on 12/13 and asked to submit a document with my name on it, after submitting this document it changed to Complete. On 12/17 it changed back to Under Review. Hope this helps future applicants!

I really hope they can’t see how many times I’ve logged into the Applicant Center.

To those who haven’t had their TF change to complete… Has anyone had their documents verified yet and still no status change?

Oh forgot to mention that my documents were verified as well!

Yes, all of my documents have been verified and for a very long time. I thought my status would eventually turn to complete (following the trend) however, it hasn’t…

My documents were all verified “YES” early on but my TF status is still “under review”.

hmm it seems like the majority of us had it stay under review or had it go to complete and revert back to under review. We’ll have to see if they start changing after the site maintenance.

@elemteacher - I’m mid MAT. I’ll finish my initial licensure coursework and internship in the spring. After that I’ll have 4 classes and my masters teaching project/portfolio to finish. They’re all online classes (other than the masters project, but I have confirmed that I can complete that while teaching in LA. I’ve also taken the two Praxis II tests required in NC for Special Ed. Don’t know what I’ll be teaching yet. So that’s my biggest question now…what all do I still have to do…

@spedteacher84 - Ah, I’m pretty much the same, except I’ll be completely done after my internship in the spring! I know at least for elementary, the same two Praxis tests required in NC/VA will count in LA, so that should be the same for you. Hopefully it won’t be too much more work, especially since you’ll also be working on finishing your Master’s!

Have a lot of people been changing to Complete for their TF? I didn’t apply for TF because I didn’t think I would get any but with everyone talking about the hints it provides I decided to go ahead and apply for it. I just submitted my last piece of information this morning and everything has a yes next to it and says under review. From what I am reading there is a lot of back and forth so it may not be the clear hint we’re all hoping for.

[Pittsburgh school board drops $750,000 Teach For America contract](http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/answer-sheet/wp/2013/12/19/pittsburgh-school-board-drops-750000-teach-for-america-contract/)

I guess no one is going to Pittsburgh this year. Bummer! I know that the school situation there hasn’t been as positive as many have hoped so hopefully they will be able to get some great new ideas with the new board members to help the students.

@elemteacher, so I guess we’ll be in Mississippi together this summer! I’m still waiting for the traditional DL3 for my subject placement. Hoping for elementary special ed. When will we know exactly where in our regions we’ll be teaching? Southern Louisiana is pretty spread out, as is the LA Delta. I’m freaking out about finding a place to live (crazy planner here).

For those of you who did not apply to TF, has anyone been asked to give further documentation?

@EDUforALL In years past TF change has always been an indicator of acceptance. Although TFA could change your TF and still accept you…but place you on a waitlist

for 3DLers this year, some of us had our TF go from under review to complete…and then a few days ago all of ours reverted back to under review at the same time. We believe it may have to do with maintenance theyre doing on the site.

TFA offices are closing for the holidays so we’ll have to see if we see TF changes after the new year! Im keeping track of everyones who had changed beforehand.

@Pastaholic yeah, I read that about Pittsburgh, it is a bummer. It looks like theyre going to be using that money to instead re-open an elementary school that was way under-enrolled. Appears to be just pandering to the local neighborhood by the new school board members

@spedteacher84: I am also a crazy planner, and I’m having to really focus on not getting flustered about not being able to plan too far ahead! I’m not sure if it works the same for every region, but we filled out little profiles for them to give to the local principals and administration. We’ll be able to interview in the spring if needed, but I would like to do an in person interview and have no time to visit… So I’ll be interviewing during those first few weeks when we go to our regions for induction! From what I’ve heard, most people look for housing on weekends during institute. And in LA Delta at least, they said they keep track of who is leaving and try to keep those houses available for incoming corps members.

Do any of yall have Yes’s or N/A’s next to the few things theyve asked for with Transitional Funding? I do, but my status is still Under review. Also, how much does TFA want to recruit diverse members to its program? Ive heard numerous opinions and am just interested. I was quite astonished to see the lack of diversity at my final interview. I was the only black male.

@rhswim9 Diversity is VERY important for TFA. One of the major criticisms that they face is the idea that TFA is largely made up of white, wealthy corps members who want to come in to low income neighborhoods and “save” the children. So many critics of TFA attribute a colonial mindset to the organization. As a black man myself, I would have the same idea of the organization if I observed it 15 years ago when it was first starting. But the truth is that TFA has recognized this weakness and has made large attempts to address it over time. I don’t know if it was the case at your final interview, but my final interviewers even commented on how Diversity is now one of their core values. As someone who sees how TFA recruiters work, I can saw they emphasize outreaching to people of color.

Black men are particularly targeted because there’s just so few of us involved in the education field. The statistic most often used is that only 2% of teachers nationwide are Black men. So it’s an issue that all teacher programs, both traditional and alternative face. I go to a university with a relatively large population of African Americans and I am usually the only black male in my education courses. I can count the amount of black males I’ve seen in the Education Department at my school on my fingers so it’s something that all education programs want to address, not just TFA. In my final interview, I was the only black male but there were many black females and one latino female. From what I know, being a black male doesn’t give you extra “points” or anything like that during the interview process, but I would say your regional recruiters would be more likely to reach out to you and see how you’re feeling. As a campus recruiter, bringing more black men to the corps is one of my biggest goals, so I’m interested in how you got to this point. Were you recruited or did you find out about TFA on your own?
