Teach for America 2015 Corps

I think too from what I’ve looked at they may want to know where you’re relocating to before they do funding, so it could be a very good thing!

Hi, I had my interview on Oct. 16th, the same day I turned in my TF. Like I said, I had it verified and asked for additional documents by the 20th. I’ve seen past posts of people getting in without any verification, as well as people who had their TF complete getting rejected, although they seem like outliers.

@blakej89‌ Mine went complete yesterday, sometime before 3.

I’m just nervous because of last year, there were a few people who went complete (about 1 per DL) who didn’t get in… I’m wondering if that was because of inability to place though? Maybe? I know one had a specific special circumstance, I don’t remember about the others. My theory is acceptance starts the TF process, then placement is figured out while that’s happening, then TF is finalized after placement. Idk though. I’m throwing darts in the dark lol.

If i’m not verified by the end of the week I think I may have a heart attack

@blakej89‌ I’m with you on that one!

I had my interview on 10/13 and submitted all required TF documents on 10/14. Still under review. I am super nervous after learning that some of you have gotten “completes” back already, having submitted it later than me. I feel in my gut that this is a bad sign for me. However, I have a theory that s it may depend on where you interviewed that has bearing on when / if you get TF the “complete” status before OCT 30th, as different groups of reviewers may be processing everyone’s information at different rates. I definitely think that we shouldn’t count our chickens before they’re hatched (or assume there’s no chicken because there’s no egg yet lol). They have the “final notification” for a reason, and while patience is a virtue I don’t have… I guess we gotta deal with it! UGH!

Also… I forgot to ask in my final interview, but does anyone know how the whole student loan forgiveness thing works through TFA?

@lifehasjust I wanted to know too but I figured it was in poor taste to ask until after acceptance so I don’t know. It’s on the website, and you apply after your 2 years + not everyone gets it anymore. As for your TF, have any of your document been verified? I’m still under review, but my documents have all been looked at.

@LupeLA I’m still under review as well. How do you know your documents have been looked at?

I had my interview on the 15th and submitted all my documents on the 16th. My docs have been verified.

Also, I think the student loan forgiveness is a government program and not one that is exclusive to TFA. I believe after 5 years of working for a school that qualifies as high needs or low income (and it must be categorized as such by the government) that you can get all of your student loans forgiven. However, I have heard that even if you don’t work for a high needs school for five years that you can still get a portion of your loans forgiven. That’s my basic understanding of the student loan forgiveness program, although I do know that while in TFA your student loan payments will be deferred for 2 years as long as TFA is renewed by Americorps for 2015.

If u work in public service while making 120 qualifying payments (10 years) then the rest of the balance is forgiven. As far as TFA if the americorp grant is still valid they pay the interest on ur loan for ur two year term then u get 11,500 (i think) for education expenses

I’m pretty sure the teacher loan forgiveness is only for stafford loans and needs five years AFTER any period when you’ve gotten americorps benefits, just to clarify.

The forgiveness that TFA does is different, it comes from their personal funding, which is why not everyone gets in anymore, and now you have to apply, its somewhere on the TFA website.
@lifehasjust my documents say “yes” under toe column “documents verified by transitional funding” meaning they are not blank and been looked at and ok. It seemed from past years thread that your status could be “under review” with nothing under said column, and that meant they were not reviewing your TF, people took that as meaning that they were not accepted so TFA was not working on their funding to save resources. HOWEVER people have said they got accepted being “under review” and not having any documents verified.

Actually I take back on what i said about the loan forgiveness, I misunderstood what it said on the TFA website. @blakej89 is correct

So I just went back to check on my transitional funding, and I don’t know if this is me reading way too into things, but none of my stuff has been verified (still) BUT I noticed the background of my Private Loan documentation is slightly gray while everything else is white. I’m wondering if that’s at all significant or if everyone else sees that?

So I’ve been trying to NOT look at my TF but all of you guys have been making me nervouse lol. So I just checked. And all of my documents have been verified and my status says complete. Now I’m not reading too much into this because there was a girl last year who thought she for sure got in because her status changed to complete and she didn’t… So I’m still going to be on edge. Lol by the way I completed my TF very early, like the second day it was available and my status didn’t change until today or yesterday maybe

I am super glad I’m not the only one freaking out because of TF. I interviewed on the 14th and submitted my TF on the 16th around 5pm ish CST, no documents verified and still under review, I’m wishing I hadn’t applied because it’s causing more worry than anything. I’ve more or less convinced myself I’m not getting in, that way I won’t be as disappointed, I so wish it was the 30th already haha

This may help: email from TFA. They had to update my TF application.

If you do not see an update from us on your page asking for further documents then you can expect to see an award offer on the day you receive your final admissions decision, provided you are accepted into the corps. Until that day, your status will show as “Under Review”.

@eRepublic have your documents been verified?

All docs have been verified with “yes.”
