I was accepted and have until the 21st to decide. I’m having trouble making the decision because I’m placed in Oklahoma. I’m a New Yorker and worried moving there would be a huge culture shock. Also the salary there is extremely low.
@morrism93 I feel the same way. I am also from the East Coast but currently living in Colorado and Oklahoma was my last choice. I am definitely going to accept the offer but I am a little worried about the transition.
Hello! I had submitted my application last week for the 5th DL. I was hoping we could continue the conversation, so for any 5th DLers please come on out! haha.
Btw, congrats to everyone that got accepted! I hope to be in your shoes in a month or so
Wow, this thread has died. Dang, I guess I’ll keep all the excitements/failures/struggles to myself. lol.
Yay me! I got invited to a phone interview! I’m a bit nervous since it’s just around the corner!
I’m a 5th DL applicant too, and I was invited to a phone interview too! I’m excited, but super nervous. This process is intense.
I was invited to a phone interview today too! Definitely an intense process. I’m glad this thread is still going!
I am a 5th deadline applicant too! I also got invited to a phone interview. I have it in two days, so nervous…
Hey everyone!
Just joined the thread today (although I must admit I have been stalking the thread and enjoying reading all about the process from prior applicants on this thread and the 2014 thread as well - tons of helpful hints!)…
I am also a 5th deadline applicant and have my phone interview today!.. Psyched and a little nervous too!..
Just curious, what is your background/experience for those of you who made it to the phone interview?
Good luck to the rest of you - this is such an exciting process!
Thank you for joining the conversation guys/gals!
@TeachForNC2015: I am a recent college graduate with various leaderships in different organizations. TFA does not seem to require any teaching experience(s), so I am crossing my fingers I don’t lose a spot because of that. And please tell us how your phone interview goes! We are all in the same position now, so any information will help ease the nerves. Good luck! Go rock that interview!
Quick question: were you guys contacted by a recruiter or recently received e-mails from TFA? I was not recruited before submitting my application, but I recently received an email from Amanda Bass regarding “The Corps Experience: In Training” (two recorded lectures about the Summer Training and on-going support). I’m not sure if this is an indication of anything, but I’m sure everyone receives it.
@TFA5thDL2015 - I also received that email about “The Corps Experience”…
I’m a 5DL, and I just finished my phone interview an hour ago. She was extremely nice, and we finished about four minutes early and had time to talk about her experience. Even if I bombed it, she made me feel like I did great. Good luck to those of you still waiting to have yours!
@nervynerd - same here!
I finished mine at right about 50 minutes and had time for questions… She was incredibly friendly and definitely made me feel at ease…
So, when I get anxious I start baking… off to bake batches and batches of things I won’t even eat while we wait for “Friday the 13th!”… Seriously, did they really have to pick that date? It just sounds so ominous…
@TeachForNC2015 Mine was actually only 33 minutes, but she told me we only had 35 minutes to begin with…weird. I hope that’s not a bad sign!
And yeah, that’s the worst date in the world! So, my fingers are very, very crossed. Good luck to you, too!
I had my phone interview today. lasted almost exactly 30 minutes. She was nice but definitely followed the script word for word. I think it went well. Can’t wait to find out Friday!
I just got accepted into TNTP Teaching Fellows–Baltimore. They’re giving me 3 weeks to decide, which, unfortunately, isn’t until right before we find out about TFA. It would’ve been a great back up, but it looks like I’ll just have to decline if I make it to the final TFA interview. Fingers crossed that we all make it!
@nervynerd: Congrats on your acceptance! From these forums, it seems like you can request an early decision from TFA if you have a competing acceptance – this way you don’t have to decline your acceptance from TNTP. I would research this further.
