I read a rejection form letter on one of these boards and basically they fill in your name, thank you for being interested in them, and then they go on to say that because they have such a high volume of applicants they cannot provide individual feedback regarding your rejection. While disappointing, this makes sense as their application numbers can range into the tens of thousands.
I will be checking my email from when I get up at 6am to nanny lolol I just want today to go faster bc I can’t take the wait anymore!!
Also to those above interested in a response to the criticism TFA has gotten in the past, I found the YouTube video where the CEO of TFA addresses it all really interesting & helpful for a different point of a view!
See, this is what I am trying to avoid, lol, the 6 a.m. thing. I am thinking to wait before I really start till around 2 p.m. tomorrow. (yeah, right!)
@gggggg Thank you for your feedback! Yea, I agree on some of the points made. My sister and I were talking briefly about it (she’s in education). During our talk she pointed out alot of what it said. She mentioned that although I am interested in education, my way of approaching it is not their way. She pointed out the use of Charter schools and how they affect the communities, oftentimes in a bad way. Honestly, I have seen what a charter school has done to my neighborhood back home which has not been good for Community members. She then pointed out the sponsorships, whose practice is in no way in alignment with decreasing poverty. (Walmart for example)… Which is funny because I’ve been boycotting Walmart for over a year lol, when I learned of the sponsorship I had mixed feelings.
I don’t believe everything in the article though. I like how many stay within education, but after looking deeper I’m at an internal conflict. But I will say, what had kept my hopes high is seeing TFA currently undergoing a systems change with their training process to test out longer institutes. This takes time.
I guess it made me question my participation in the group activity. Being I made an agreement to not discuss it’s context, I can’t go into detail. But, I’d say our schools need to have alternative methods when approaching drastic changes, and look at how it affects sustainability as well as the qualitative growth of the kids and community just as much as the quantitative.
But, I do see positives to TFA as well, which is what drew me near! Oh life lol
@MoLoveMoGrowth So it sounds like if you are accepted, you still have a big decision to make, huh? For me, I already did all that soul-searching. Feeling fully committed now. But I totally understand. I think you have to be 100 percent behind this and believing that you truly can make a difference through TFA before jumping into that crazy adventure!
@MoLoveMoGrowth I’ve read tons of articles like this. I have always believed that the loudest voices are the negative voices. Most of the TFA “dissenters” are always the same few prominent people. The people who have had an excellent experiece with TFA very rarely speak about it on such a big level. I agree with @gggggg the article definitely makes it seem as though every TFA teacher that Briana had access to was rude and uncaring, but we also have to consider that she was a teenager who had just suffered through Hurricane Katrina. Does this invalidate her feelings? Absolutely not. But it does mean that she had just gone through a terribly traumatic experience and all of the “newness” might have been just frustrating enough to make her feel as though her new teachers didn’t actually care. It sounds like we had the same or similar group activities. I was the only one in my group who had a differing opinion.
@gggggg I’ve read that the website actually changes before the email is sent out. But last deadline it seemed that people started getting their acceptance/rejection as early as 12:00 P.M. EST.
@aprilmatt1113 OMG. So you are saying it’s possible we will know exactly 24 hours (and three minutes) from now. Oh the torture! This site is both helping and making it worse at the same time, if that makes any sense
Okay so I submitted an unofficial transcript, they asked for official. I sent it in. They asked for more/ different documents for transitional funding as recently as yesterday.
All of my documents are verified but it still says under review. My friends says complete.
I guess I’m wondering what all of this means. I can’t think straight.
@judithoriole what kind of additional documentation did they ask for? My docs are verified but they never asked for more from me or contacted me
@summersky2015 They wanted verification of some medical debt I’m paying off
So it seems as though some completes are already rolling out if they are, in fact, checking the status page. Makes me even more anxious! But at the same time, I feel really calm as I refresh my TF page 97 times an hour lol.
@judithoriole oh okay thank you! Maybe they just really didn’t need anything from me or here’s to hoping!
Are there any other completes on the board? I know we had one, but her’s switched back to Under Review a few days ago. I’m terrified right now, I’m worried about getting accepted, and then I’m worried that if they DO accept me, my placement won’t be in the area I need it to be in. I’m not worried about my subject level at all. I do want to clarify that if I didn’t have any special circumstances I wouldn’t be worried about my regional placement either.
Still “under review” here, with no additional documents requested.
So, I’m going to put the template out, so we’re ready for tomorrow. Is there anything that anyone things we should add? Ranking next to region and grade level means how did YOU rank them, i.e. were they you’re highly preferred, least preferred, etc.

Under review, but documents are verified, at least there is that. For those of you who don’t have even that, keep in mind that it might all change tomorrow at the last minute. Also, it seems from looking over prev deadlines, plenty of people were accepted with “under review.” … Right?
@gggggg it seems like this year, for the 2015 corps, a lot of people were accepted and their TF Status was still saying Under Review, so it’s definitely not as big of an indicator as it was.
Not that this adds anything to the conversation, but I’m DYING! Status still hasn’t changed back to complete. I’m afraid that all this TF speculation has gotten me too excited anyway. Who even knows if it is a real indicator–the sampling on CC is so small we just can’t know.
@unicorncat91 you were our one complete on the board right?
@marydee: mine has not changed either. I wouldn’t be surprised if I get a rejection letter tomorrow, but that “withdraw” button seems tempting right now. lol. maybe I should withdraw before being rejected. sadly. lmao. haha. excuse me guys, i’m just trying to entertain myself now as I will most likely be rejected tomorrow.
