Does anyone know the tests that need to be taken for middle school Math in Indianapolis? Or anything about Indianapolis testing. Random question, but thanks!
Anyone else leaning towards not accepting the offer at this point? Feel like I am the only one. If so can you message me? I want to talk to someone else in this position.
OK so I’m pretty late to the party but I just wanted to tell y’all a little bit about my journey so far with TFA. I applied on a whim for the 2nd deadline and was so pumped! Went through the interview process and all that jazz and really wanted Philadelphia! It was my #1 followed by other popular regions like D.C. and Nashville. I ended up getting Indianapolis which discouraged me. It was pretty far down on my preferred list and I just put it there because I was running out of regions to put down. I was really upset because I had no experience with Indy and I had no idea what was there. Since accepting my offer in December Indy has been amazing. The support system is awesome and the people are so nice. I can’t wait for some midwestern hospitality coming from FL. I will be teaching middle school science so if anyone is placed in Indy let me know how you’re doing on your journey! I would love to connect before we go to institute!
I seriously debated whether to accept my offer when I got my region but after some serious thought and talks with my parents and bf I felt it was the best decision. Anyway, its only 2 years. I could fall in love with Indy (I’m definitely falling in love with the LOW cost of living during my apartment search already).
@collegestudent23 Ricky Ritter should be in contact with you once you receive your acceptance email and all that and when the acceptance deadline has passed.(I assume you just found out your assignment) They will tell you what tests you need to take and how to apply for Marian University. The info will come in the onboarding calls in the next month or so but you can find out on the Pearson website as well. You have to take the test that aligns with your undergrad major and the test that you’re teaching in
@collegestudent23 BTW I’m teaching middle school science in Indy this coming year, so welcome!
Well I’m currently in the process of possibly getting reassigned. I’m talking to a few more people about what sped credential would allow me to teach, but my region is being really understanding of my long term plans. I’m a little frustrated with my regional consultant, who told me there were a few humanities spots in the Bay Area, when it turns out there never were any. I would have never listed Bay Area if I knew that.
@TFASR2018 Same here. Hope it works out for you.
Help!! Does anyone know what happens if one of our recommenders does not submit the form on time? I’m in a bit of a jam. I’m really hoping this will not completely eliminate my application. Please if anyone knows anything! Thanks!
@hydrideshift one of mine didn’t come in until after my interview and it was fine. Not anything to worry about until someone mentions it. I sent a reminder to them just before my interview just in case.
Hey guys! I had my final interview today and I’m a little nervous about how my mini lesson went. I never got the “one minute warning” so I’m a little concerned that I went too fast/there wasn’t enough lesson. Has anyone else had this experience?
@teachinforlife do you mean that you finished your lesson plan without receiving the one minute warning? If that’s the case, that happened to me as well. I applied to the second deadline and I was admitted to the corps. I had practiced my lesson plan, and every time it lasted about 4.5 minutes, which was my goal, as to leave time for questions/etc. I must have finished in just under 4 minutes because my interviewers hadn’t given me my one minute warning. I didn’t feel too rushed, though- I took a minute or so to explain what the lesson was- learning to sing triplet notes- and asked them to give me examples of rhythms (like your heart beating, or a clock ticking). Then I jumped into the lesson where I did call and repeat with them, taught them the “new” rhythm (triplets), and then had them sing it on words/lyrics instead of fruit. (Blueberry was a triplet, apple was two eighth notes, etc.) I had them do that a couple of times until they got it, and that was it.
Long story short, it’s not necessarily a bad thing if you went under the time limit. It’s definitely better than being cut off and not able to finish in time!
Let me know if you have any more questions! @teachinforlife
Hey guys! I had my final interview yesterday for TFA. I thought the day went very well, but now the waiting begins. I don’t think I am going to be able to wait until March 5th for a decision.
Hey everyone! Had my interview yesterday, I think it went decently. The interviewer said she was impressed with me so hopefully that’s a good sign! This waiting until March 5th is going to kill me…
Good luck @jmmillr8! It is going to be a very long week…
My timeline has disappeared in the application center, and I don’t know what to make of it. Anyone else missing their timeline? I’ve read in previous threads that this could mean different things. I know they got rid of the source code that would display whether or not a candidate was accepted. Can anyone provide insight?
Mine as also disappeared! I looked at my code and it says FINALEVAL. Nothing is definite yet. You can find the code by getting on google chrome, logging in to the applicant center, and right clicking. Click view source code and then control find “exit”. It should show exit code and say FINALEVAL or something else if they made the decision.
hmm, my timeline hasn’t disappeared.
Where do you find the code?
@Tee201824 See my above comment. I describe how to find the code.
