Teach For America - 2019 Corps

@teacher2019 Ah okay, good to know. I was just thinking that I did not do well at my interview at all and am expecting bad news. I’d be surprised if I got in tbh.

@Fanta-chan i feel like the new links may be a good indicator. why would they add those to your portal if you weren’t accepted? anyone have any ideas?

@teacher2019 It could just be part of the system update. They are still tweaking the portal as they have been for like the past month. So it could easily just be because there is a new update they’re pushing.

@teacher2019 I’ve already been accepted and I don’t have those links, so that makes me think it’s just an update they’re pushing.

@teacher 2019 Hmmm, I think I just get the feeling that TFA is going to try harder to prevent people from seeing if they’ve been accepted early and wouldn’t make it too obvious. I don’t want to get my hopes up for nothing.

The wait is killing me as well. I tried to connect with a recruiter over the summer who was super enthusiastic at first but then brushed me off completely once I sent all of my information (resume, college, gpa). It was so discouraging I almost didn’t apply honestly.
The same thing happen when I went to apply for a college wide honors program for sustainability. One of the board members quoted to me that I probably had a 4% chance of being selected. I was super discouraged but applied anyway. And I just found out I was accepted so here’s to hoping I have the same success with TFA!!!

Has anyone else’s source coding (view, source for macs, ctrl U for non-macs) in their portal changed to add “CommitmentDecisionStatement”, “AssignmentDecisionEDL” (with HIDDEN), “DecisionPersonalInfo”, “DecisionGlobalWaiver”, “Registration”, and “DecisionAcceptSurvey”. Once on the page you can use control F to find the key words faster.

I have those as well!

Is there anything in the source code this time that indicates whether or not you’re accepted?

Mine says all those words too! Does anyone know what the ‘progress percent’ means?

@Ree2019 TFA has eliminated all of the previous source code indications.

@tfaenbie thanks! I was working myself up about it

@Ree2019 does your source code look like mine? (Check my earlier comment)

@tfaenbie it does!

What is everyone doing to keep themselves busy? It’s the final countdown! roughly 48 hours! Is anyone else planning a cross country move? Curious how your going about it! I think I’m planning on just driving down, and finding storage until I grab an apartment near the school I’ll hopefully be working in next year!

This forum seems to calm my nerves more than anything else!

@JinxedKing doing exactly the same here! Refreshing this and the TFA portal obsessively hoping some hint will come out of thin air

Haha Yes, If TFA admitted applicants based on website views I would be in for sure! At least we will know soon! @tfachinwi19 What subjects are you hoping to teach/ placement choices?!

@JinxedKing I’m hoping for somewhere in the Midwest – put Chicago/NW Indiana, Rhode Island, St. Louis, and DC as my top 4. Thinking high school English/Social Sciences (but know these placements are scarce, so I’d gladly accept a middle school placement). How about you?

@tfachinwi19 Very nice, St Louis and Chicago would be pretty great. I really debated putting D.C., but heard placement was difficult to secure there. I put Early Childhood Ed as highly preferred, and then high school English/History as preferred! So we have that in common. My top 4 regions were Memphis, South Carolina, Arkansas, and Tulsa! Are those regions close to you? Or will you be making a big move? I currently live in the West Coast so this will be a pretty big change!

@tfachinwi19 I currently live just outside of St. Louis, so if you get sent there, I’d be happy to answer questions for you.
