I didn’t get in and I agree with the both of you. I have a BA and MA in education and I’m certified. I hate that they dont tell you why you didn’t get in.
Hey @Freeberty @shopaholic97 @ukwildcatstfa I definitely feel that there is an underlying reason with this being the last deadline. For some regions (ex: CA), their slots are already full or their processes are rather long and already begun. I know for my region (Buffalo), the region limits the number of TFA folks and so folks are less likely to get in with more time passing.
Though I do agree that it doesn’t always come out clear as to how TFA works and even as someone who has accepted to be part of the TFA 2019 Buffalo corps, I am a bit skeptical.
Got accepted to Greater Tulsa teaching Secondary Science!
I got accepted into Eastern North Carolina teaching middle school math or science! Anyone else teaching there, let me know!
Did anyone get transitional funding award after they accepted their offer? Mine says I was awarded by then when I click on view the award letter it says my documents have not been reviewed yet.
I’m actually from the Buffalo area and live currently on the border of West Seneca/South Buffalo. Hope the city ends up growing on you during your time here. I personally am tired of the cold, which is one reason why I wanted to teach down South, but the area does have a great food and bar scene if that’s your thing. I am very familiar with the city so I could lend advice.
Maybe we will run into each other as I am probably just gonna sub for the city of Buffalo seeing as I have contacts there and I apparently need more teaching experience for a full time History position. Know someone very closely who works in the city of Buffalo as a teacher and they do have some criticisms in how Teach for America is displacing some experienced teachers for young recruits without the education experience simply because its cheaper and the schools are desperate to fix problems that extend beyond the classroom.
@TFAmiddle_math I’m also in ENC! Welcome and congrats! I’ll be teaching elementary, but I already live in the area so if you have any questions let me know!
@BeTHEChange93 Great! I’m excited but don’t know much about the area. Do you know any regions/cities in ENC? Thanks
@TFAmiddle_math we have partnerships with Duplin, Edgecombe, Granville, Halifax, Lenoir, Northampton, Pitt, Sampson, Vance, and Warren counties; Weldon City Schools; and Henderson Collegiate, KIPP ENC, Rocky Mount Prep, and Maureen Joy charter schools.
@BeTHEChange93, Thanks!!
@Freeberty Perhaps we will run into one another. Just submitted application to work in Buffalo Public Schools. I certainly am grateful for the area I’m working in and plan to be around for awhile (Teaching English as a New Language).
@futureteacher08 I’m waiting on my admission decision, should find out on Dec 4th. I put Nashville/ Chattanooga as my top region. Was Nashville in your top regions?
