Teach for America-Early Application 2016 corps

@teacher13 it really is a great opportunity, I really hope it works out for all of us. I also want to be in the East Coast, I’m in NYC and hope to stay here, haha. Though, I don’t mind being placed in any of the locations I chose really, and I want to teach the same thing

Hey! Did anyone else get contacted to complete a survey regarding their interview experience today?

@ClayRod thanks for the support! Sending positive vibes your way

@teacher13 I did, yeah. It was pretty straightforward stuff, they’re just looking for feedback. Really happy to provide it, though!

What’s good everyone? Wish you all luck! Time to play the waiting game. I put down Bay area, Seattle, and Chicago as some of my top choices. I’m hoping to do bilingual education, Spanish, and/or elementary.

Does anyone know if the acceptance rate is different for early applicants/know the acceptance rate after the final interview?

@TFA2016 yeah my interviewer told me that the selection rate is much smaller for early applicants because they have a second chance to apply if they aren’t admitted after their first try, giving them more time to improve on anything that may have caused them to be rejected.

@fmorales Hey, and good luck to you as well! Just less than 3 weeks. Some of my professors take that long to grade papers so I try not to think about it too much, haha. I’m also interested in bilingual education, with my top choice being social studies. Did you take the spanish fluency exam they administered?

anyone else freaking out about waiting ANOTHER 2 weeks for our decisions after the final 2015 ones came out today??? I CAN’T WAIT I AM SO NERVOUS

I’m soo nervous! I just read the thread for 2015 and a lot of people didn’t get accepted. I know that’s common but it’s scary to read it from fellow applicants. Fingers crossed!!

yeah i’ve been stalking all the previous threads and can’t tell what my outcome is going to be but definitely not getting my hopes up and i’m just thankful I can reapply! It would be amazing to get this and not have to worry about it during senior year though! Good luck to everyone!! CU on here in two weeks!

Ah, why does it have to be so far away, still? Next Friday, you guys!

Wait, don’t you mean Thursday?

It is Thursday the 7th not Friday. I am so nervous, I feel like the days are going by slower than usual.

I’m beyond nervous. Does anyone know if the application is shorter if we get rejected and reapply next year? I feel like it would be weird to answer some of those application questions again since the reason I want to do TFA wouldnt change

Also would anyone mind stating their gpas/majors? My gpa isn’t too high because of unfortunate circumstances during my first two years of college. I explained that in my application and interview. I just don’t know if that would be a determining factor of getting accepted or not.

Yeah, my GPA is a 3.1 So I would say I’m average?

ya girl is stuntin a 2.96 due to me being a complete moron as a freshman and attempting pre-med lol but I explained mine as well, they have a 2.5 minimum so it would be frustrating if they dismissed people because of GPA

I study English, and I’m working on a teaching certification and a certificate in public health. My GPA is a 3.95.

I have a 3.34 gpa, though I have a feeling the gpa doesn’t matter that much as long as it’s 2.5 or above

I’m a solid 3.3 GPA, my college practices pretty rough grade deflation though. History major, education certification specialization. Can’t wait for Thursday! (I honestly can’t tell what the decision’s going to be, but I’m excited nonetheless!)
