Today, when I was on the Common App, looking through my rejected Early app to Yale, I noticed that my School Forms section was not complete. One of my teacher recommendations was not sent to the school. This seems impossible considering that my school sends them out together through the program Naviance. All the other schools I applied to have received this second rec. Is it possible that I was rejected because they never received part of my application? If so, can I be reconsidered is there was a system error?

I also applied to yale early too (and was rejected), and since hurrican esandy happened, they were advertising their policy of missing school forms/recommendations. I recall being told several times that any student whose forms didn’t get there on time whouldn’t be rejected, but would be notified that their application was incomplete, and then cycled into the regular decision pool. I think that would be the case regardless of whether or not you were affected by the storm.

I also have a teahcer recommendation which, according to the commonapp, has not been sent to many of my regular decision schools, but when I log into their websites, they all say they’ve recieved the recommendation. My guess is that it’s just a glitch in the common app website. An email to the admissions office at Yale couldn’t hurt, just to check if they didn’t recieve it, but my guess is that they would have informed you earlier.

I’m sorry if it wasn’t what you were hoping to hear. I hope for your sake that you get a second chance at getting in, because Yale is a fantastic school. But it’s also good to move on if life doesnt’ work out the way you plan [and there are tons of awesome colleges besides Yale!]
