Teacher Recommendations Help

Has anyone else been having issues with the CA Teacher recommendations? I cannot assign teacher recommenders for Northeastern and this is really freaking me out as I was able to before...

Yes. If your school uses Naviance, the GC will find out that he/she can FINALLY submit/upload his/her recommendation, transcript and school report, but a teacher submitting a teacher recommendation cannot. It is hard to believe it’s September 30 tomorrow, and the Common App people have still not resolved these problems.

Thank goodness for the GC submissions… but I was asking after assigning recommenders. I can’t even choose who is going to be submitting letters of rec on Common App.

CommonApp Help desk told my DS the teachers can now send their letters through Naviance. Has anyone had success? I’m not sure I actually believe it!

My D’s school uses Naviance. When she went to assign teacher recommenders on the Common App it would not let her. In the help section on the right side of the screen it specifically noted that if your school uses Naviance you cannot assign recommenders through the Common App. The guidance counselor said she would send the teacher rec letters with all the other info she sends via Naviance ( transcripts, etc.)

CatMomma… my teacher has completed her letter of rec and submitted it on Naviance but still not reflected on common app…very frustrating

My son’s teacher said she tried to submit her letter through Naviance last night but it wouldn’t go through on her end at all. So very frustrating. I know the Guidance Counselor stuff went through. I don’t understand why teacher’s can’t send their recs!

DS’s guidance counselor now says teachers cannot submit their letters to CommonApp schools until Oct 11th. I guess this is what Naviance is saying. Students have no direct access to Naviance help. They only work through guidance departments. Has anyone else heard about this Oct 11th date? I’m very skeptical about this time frame. And I don’t know why CommonApp Help told my DS that teachers could now send letters.

We just got an e-mail from our guidance office about the Oct 11th date for Common App teacher recs being sent via Naviance. Frustrating.

Maybe it’s time to use snail mail. Only one of my 3 recommenders got invite. I have re-invited won’t know till Monday if it worked.

I finally begged someone at Naviance to help me out and she told me the teachers cant submit until Oct 11. It has nothing to do with Naviance it is the common application not accepting them. I am worried because I have Oct 15 deadlines. Might have to ask teachers to mail them but I really dont want to do that.

Bigbooklover- my DD has an Oct 15 deadline. Just so I understand you correctly- are you saying that common app will not let a teacher submit a recommendation via naviance until Oct. 11?

You should definitely have your teachers mail the recs just in case.

itsv…yes that is correct. I also have a Oct 15th deadline, just remember that deadline is for the application to be submitted the letters of rec can be sent later so I am not that concerned. If it does not happen on Oct 11th I will revert to snail mail.

Thanks. My DD got lots of emails from her colleges all pointing out the problems with the common app and encouraging her to use any other application form available such as school specific. They said they are aware of the problems and will try to help students. My favorite email was from one college that said they were having a ton of problems downloading applications from the common app and for anyone who applied before Oct 3 they should contact the college so they can track the application down."

I’ll be so glad when this is over. Nothing like last year’s experience which was a ton easier.
