Teacher Recommendations on Common Application

I had posted this in another thread.......I've tried to read everything on the Common App. site to answer my questions, but so far no luck. Anyone have any answers for me?

We have 1 teacher doing their recommendation on-line
1 teacher doing it hard copy

For the teacher on-line - is his "stuff" automatically sent to EVERY college on my son's list? How about if there are different versions of his application, so different "my college" lists?

Also, because some schools only require 1 teacher rec., there is only room to put in one teacher when you are completing the "school forms" part of the Common App. We used the "hard copy" teacher because he is a "stronger" recommendation (subject matter is his probably major, etc.). OK now, hopefully you are still following me: the on-line teacher has completed and submitted his work. Will it go to ALL the schools, including the ones he is not specifically listed on? (He is an "invited" teacher for the common app; just not specifically listed for certain schools because they only have 1 spot.)

Also, for the schools that only require 1 recommendation, can this second teacher (doing it on-line and not being listed on the Common App for these schools) just "print-out" his paperwork and drop it in the mail (in the envelopes we provided, but he's not using for most schools, since he did on-line)? My son doesn't think just "printing" is a possibility. They have to actually fill out the forms sort of "by hand" if not submitting electronically? That's what this teacher implied.

I'm trying to make my questions clear, but I'm not sure if I'm being successful!

Also, when the other teacher mails his hard copies, the schools just need to manually "match them up" with the correct application? I guess that sounds like a silly question, but I'm feeling a little paranoid about how this process works.

If anyone can help me out with these recommendation questions, I'd really appreciate it! Thanks.

first of all, i'm not sure if having 1 teacher do it online and 1 do a hard copy is the best way to go about it. i asked the common app support center (filed a question ticket) and they told me it would be best if you had them all do it online or all paper based. it makes life a lot easier for the admissions offices if you think about it (after all they ARE getting 1000s of applications)

i believe your son can choose the schools that see the stuff the "online teacher" has completed. at least that's what i see in the instructions on that page. you can have as many teachers as you want invited and each teacher can submit to one school if you choose.

i don't quite get your second question, sorry. but i hope what i've said above helps you out a little.
