Teacher's Recommendation

Hey y'all :)
First, good luck to everyone who is applying for Harvard, I am glad that we can help and share information with each other!

I just got transferred to Maryland high school from California due to my dad is in military.
Anyway, I am still deciding on which teacher's recommendation I should send it to Harvard.

Freshmen English teacher whom I have known for three years

AP Eng Lit/Comp teacher whom I have known about three months

Not to be arrogant, I do feel strongly confident that both has given me great recommendations. Since Harvard prefers recommendation to be from your junior/senior year, should I submit my AP Eng Lit/Comp teacher's letter of recommendation?

Thank you so much for your thoughts and concerns!
Happy Christmas y'all :)

Hi!

I am actually experiencing a more difficult problem than you. I decided to get home school during my junior year in high school, so now I have to send recommendations from my sophomore year teacher (a teacher I knew for about a year) and from my Calculus teacher this year, of whom I have only known since September. It sucks, but its the best I can do. But in your case, you’re positive that both recommendations will be stellar so why not send both? I think for Harvard you are not limited to sending just one recommendation.

Good luck! And happy holidays!

SpicyOrange: I wouldn’t send two recommendations from teachers in the same subject, unless you think the teachers will write very different recommendations from each other. Applying to college, it’s almost like you have to summarize your whole personality/life into a few pieces of paper, and you don’t want to have repetition of the same thing–it’s just a waste of space that could have been used to bring a new perspective of you. And about picking which teacher’s rec to send: it’s your call. You’re the one who knows the teachers. If you think both teachers will give an approximately equally strong recommendation, I would advise going with the junior year one.

Hm. I’m pretty sure veryyy few of us should be posting on here, since Harvard doesnt have early admissions, and none of you have mentioned being Questbridge.
Let’s go spam the normal Harvard forum instead and leave this a clean haven for those delighted accepted students in April. or whenever they get decisions.
