I just received my first laptop and I absolutely love it. However, I do not know all the other things technology-wise I will need for my dorm. I don't have a printer or even a bag for my laptop so anything else you can recommend will be much appreciated. I have an ultrabook if that helps. I am looking for hardware and software btw. I am also a computer science major

A good computer bookbag helps, I have a Targus and it has lasted forever.
An external 3-button mouse (a cheap one off amazon will do fine).
Your school should have printers galore, if you do get one, research them as some eat ink like crazy.
A good Calculator, The TI-89 titanium has been great to me.
A giant eraser.
If you don’t have a smart phone or some organizational device, get a good calendar and be religious about it.

The first things I bought were a (name brand) external mouse and keyboard. Believe me it sucks hammering out a 3,000 word paper overnight on mushy laptop buttons and a touchpad. Even worse if you’re in a programming class.

A few USB storage devices will come in handy since emailing stuff to yourself can get old. The 8gb ones work for me.

A couple people in my classes cheat on tests by plopping their smartphones in their lap and googling while trying to look like they’re scratching their groin. They think nobody notices.
