Pros- nice campus with its own metro station, good atmosphere, many good programs, including many practical majors. There are many on-campus things to do, as well as going out in Washington DC. Workload- well, probably average, but they try to maintain a nurturing and non-cutthroat atmosphere, and you will not be just a number. Many people get aid- I keep hearing about $17K packages- that seems to be common.

Thank you one mom. I have several adult friends who have graduated CU and never thought it would be of real interest to my D but she liked it alot when we did a quick visit. I am guessing that the stats are similiar to St. Joes & Fairfield & Providence – which have proximity in their favor.

In my mind no clear difference except that Fairfield is about zero urban elemnt both in location & diversity. Which is not a plus or a drawback just a difference.

Merit $$ (won’t qualify for fin aid) will probably be the deciding factor b/c I can’t see paying $48K then I would insist on a higher tier school. She is an A- student w/ tough courseload only fair SATs-- meirt $ will probably not be awarded.

Oh, I would not give up on the merit money. It sounds to me as if lots of kids get it.
