Telluride Association Summer Program (TASP) 2013

^I don’t think it means anything. Last year’s TASP thread was apparently shorter than the previous years’, but a record number of people applied to TASP 2012.
I wouldn’t be surprised if more people are applying this year than before.

The wait is killing me. I still have not looked at my essays after I proofread them and sent them in. I’m too scared! Any way, I was reading on the tasp website about instrumentalists who brought their instruments to camp and played everyday. I myself am a flautist, saxophonist and piccolo player. Any other band geeks out there?

Anyone wanna exchange and read each others’ essays? PM me…

anyone knows when the interview took place last year? and when were the rec letters due?

Are we allowed to exchange essays?

I don’t think we’re not allowed haha. But I can’t pm yet. Haven’t reached post count threshold.

is it okay if i submit an extra recommendation letter not from teachers or counselor? (couldn’t help asking even though i know my chance of getting an interview is super slim) :(

Haha I think if you actually get to that stage then they won’t mind much.

its a bit strange that im thinking about tasp right now but whatever haha

i just wanna say a few things about what i think telluride is like

i went to tass last year, which is definitely different. but I feel pretty confident in being able to say that telluride really focuses on bringing together a wide range of kids. a really wide range. they want kids from the coats (cali, new england states) but they also want kids from the midwest, the bible belt, the Appalachians. They want to bring together these different types of kids so that we (im saying we in an optimistic tone-hoping hoping hoping i’ll get in) can benefit from the type of conversation/discourse/discussion that stems from that type of amalgamation.
i definitely noticed at my tass that we were different in our backgrounds: southern, west coast states, east coast states, about 2 midwesters; socioeconomic status; some on free and reduced lunch meal programs some not (this sounds irrelevant but can really spark discussion and perspective while investigating paradigms); school type: boarding, public, private, magnet, charter, all girls, all boys; and interests: science, humanities, business, art.

also im pretty sure seminar 4 was my first choice LOL awk. maybe second? i dont really remember but im an african american female so it seems to fit.

I wonder if there has been any international participant in TASP as I haven’t found one yet but I myself is one international applicant this year so I am just curious >. <

^ hi Sally im too an international applicant, from vietnam ^^;; hope we both get in! are you from Shanghai? i LOVE China im actually planning to visit Beijing on my own this summer if I don’t get into TASP.

there have always been international kids at tasp.

the 4th seminar is so good.

Hi. yeah I’m from Shanghai and I really enjoy living here. Nice to know u ^

International applicants scare me cause I feel like they’re automatically more qualified. Gah why does it have to be a competition…

is this program for current juniors or rising juniors? thanks

You can only apply to TASP if you’re currently a junior, but if you’re a sophomore (rising junior) you can always apply to TASS

according to Wiki, and all other web sites, TASS is only for minority high school students. Is it true???

I’m pretty certain that’s not true. Telluride wouldn’t discriminate on the basis of race and part of the point of their programs is to gather a very varied group of people

I think it is true. not Telluride for juniors, but TASS for younger ones.
