Telluride Association Summer Program (TASP) 2013

Yay! I mean not for that person obviously, but I’m glad the theory of rejections coming out later has now been debunked and that you guys don’t have to feel as if your chance is already gone.

Sent from my XT907 using CC

I got an interview! I received my notification around 2 :)

Or maybe he just got no response and assumed it is a rejection. I definitely feel bad for him if he got rejected, but I have slightly more hope…

@river
You’ve been very kind and cheering, lol, thank you very much!

Congrats to you, to icloo, and everyone else who’s been notified as a finalist.

I got an interview as well.

Both me and a friend got in; she lives in Colorado, I on the West Coast, and we got our emails at the same time (11 AM PST).

No problem of course, I’d love for as many of you to get in as possible, and I wouldn’t want you guys to stress out unnecessarily about a rejection that hasn’t and might not happen.

And thanks again for the congrats, I spent hours pouring over each essay and ended up submitting my app less than fifteen minutes before twelve, so I’m really glad it was worth it.

I’m not hugely disappointed. I spent the weekend looking at the tumblrs of past TASP people (is that creepy?) and I don’t think I would have fit in anyways. They’re all lovely people, just not my type. And this way I’ll be able to earn money and read books of my own choosing, so a wonderful summer will hopefully be had regardless.

Congratulations to all those who were finalists, though! You deserve it!

I got an interview too! I got the email about 4 hours ago for anyone who’s wondering

Overlapped- did you get a rejection? Or just nothing?

Nothing, probably should have clarified.

(Assuming it’s rejection, as I just reread my essays and they are awful.)

-sigh- I’m sad. Looks like a lot of acceptances came out today. I guess there’s still a slim chance some are coming out tomorrow, but…

Did anybody got a notification of rejection yet? Are they sending out acceptances before rejections, or are we just too grieved to post that we got rejected?

@hanslee0409
It looks like only acceptances have gone out.
We thought we had found someone who got rejected earlier, but it turned out that he just didn’t hear anything and assumed that it meant rejection.
I have a hard time believing that could have sent out rejections- someone SOMEWHERE on the internet would have posted about it, and I’ve found nothing.

Honestly, I think it’s kind of ridiculous that they did it this way. They have to know that we are going to hear that other people are getting accepted and then be nervous for another 24 hours. I don’t care anymore if I’m rejected or not, because I wasn’t expecting to get in to start with, but I definitely want to know one way or the other.

Having said that, I do have a tiny bit of hope left. Why would they stagger it like this if they were completely sure who was a finalist and not? They have to still be deciding something…

I don’t think we can attribute the lack of rejections to people being ashamed at this point. I mean, fewer rejections than acceptances, sure. But a total lack of rejections? In addition, quite a few of us have posted that we haven’t gotten anything. Also, when we look at past threads, people were usually quick about posting definitive rejections.

Of course, rejections being delayed doesn’t necessarily preclude a possibility that acceptances are still being sent out.

I think doing it this way is kind of stupid as well. Why drag it out?

I’m really quite depressed, but like I said, I expected this because my essays were terrible–which I fully knew when I was writing them.

It makes me furious that they’re doing this. However, I just really hope that maybe they only sent out a batch of acceptances and they’ll be doing the rest tomorrow morning or something.

Yeah, I don’t think it’s possible that they have sent out any rejections yet, because I’ve seen nothing. Not a single post about it. But I do agree that there could still be more acceptances, though I doubt that there will be TOO many more…

It looks like everyone who got acceptances did so at about the same time, though. And the Association obviously segregated those accepted and those rejected, since there hasn’t been a single rejection.
I don’t think there’s much hope left.

But it’s the fact that they segregated the batches that is so weird. They haven’t ever done that before (or at least they didn’t last year), and I can’t think of any good reason why they would do that - UNLESS they weren’t completely sure yet about who was rejected and who was not. So there is a chance (albeit a small one), that acceptances went out today to the 100 top candidates, and they are still stewing over who the last 35 (or however many - I don’t know what the final total is) will be, and don’t want to send out rejections because 35 of the 1100 non-accepted applications will still be chosen. Just a theory - even if it’s true, most people are going to be rejected.
